James Thompson's ear busted open after the fight with Kimbo Slice. Old fight, but I just found this pic. So gruesome it's awesome.

Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson (Round 1)- EliteXC

Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson (Round 2)- EliteXC

Here's the fight

I don't think he lost his ear. He definitely didn't lose any hearing. That has more to do with  stuff inside you ear, not the lobe itself. I'm sure his ear looks pretty messed up now.

How about making this martial arts injuries thread?

One for MMA:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3akysELngo

WARNING! The second one is reaaaally disturbing (well, open fracture of big toe). Here it goes:

http://www.totalprosports.com/2011/06/28/picture-of-the-day-is-this-the-worst-bbj-injury-ever/

And one from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training
"Matheson bases his descriptions of the death experience itself on studies by Elisabeth Kuebler-Ross and Raymond Moody.[6] When reading these accounts, Matheson found that revived suicides told a much more frightening story than anyone else who had near death experiences."

I kind of was already planning on using this thread that way. Thanks for your contribution. I have tons of horrific injuries to share.

Dux breaks opponents leg in Muay Thai Fight, Brutal! - Sinbi Muay Thai

Broken leg from muay thai fight...

I know Muay Thai is very effective, but I dont quite understand how its worthy for some people when some mofo breaks your leg, ends your fighting career in one instant and all the years of training would be in vain...

Most of the time someone gets a leg break like this in MMA or kickboxing, there leg is already partial broken. They kick something hard like someone's shin with a partially broken shin, and they are very likely to completely break it.

Statistically, soccer actually has more injuries than most combative sports.
