Marketing Campaign for Beyond Football
« on: Jul 28, 2011, 09:29: AM »
Alright chaps, I'm thinking about putting together some type of marketing campaign for our website to bring in more new members and boost activity.

What type of suggestions do all of you have?  I'm thinking we should utilize Youtube as much as possible.  Using beyondfootball.com intros would be ideal but I don't expect you all to put those on your own videos.  It would be great if you did, but it's no way for me to bank on that alone.  Oli used to add these to his videos and it helped quite a bit.

Anyways, I'm thinking about using some advertising on Youtube.  I have no idea how expensive it would be but I'll look into it.

Does anyone have any other ideas?  Maybe Facebook groups or something else?  Basically, we need to make freestylers aware of our site who don't know about it yet.

I'm all ears to your suggestions on promoting our site or helping increase activity. :great:

What sort of intro? I wouldn't mind helping out at all, and I'm sure there are many freestylers who would want to help. I joined beyondfootball after watching the christmas video from 09 I think..? So I think having videos with beyondfootball in it would help loads.

About video intros, you could make it mandatory for anyone who's competing in BF competitions to put the official intro at the beginning of the video.

Also, an official (ALLROUND!) BF comp few (2?) times per year would be a good idea IMO. Throw in some small sponsor prizes (Pele Sports, Calle, Monta, etc.) if possible or maybe even better, get some well known freestyler (who can be a judge also) to give away something, like a Footwork or Tek-Neek shirt, etc.

Also, annual BF videos with its members, like the '09 Xmas video would be a good thing to do.

Maybe be more active on social networks? The fan page on FB, for example, is pretty dead. What Boomsjakie is doing with his fan page "I am a football freestyler" is what you should aim for - post recent videos, various news, rumors, etc.

Miran's post is spot on, the competition was the best thing about the forum and now its gone. I know oli will read this topic and laugh cause he did all of this before and so much for the forum and now it's struggling.

I completely agree with Miran too, but I think the Christmas video and all will be very tough. The last video L1nde had lots of problems with, and had to hand the work over to his friend, I believe? Well I think it's a HUGE responsibility, since freestylers send from 2-4 clips (I myself had sent 3, only 2 showed up though...) Anyways I agree with everything else though, great ideas

Yeah, it does require some work, but that's why you need to start things like these a few weeks in advance. I believe a week is enough for video editing, so we make the deadline a week before Xmas, no exceptions. And surely there will be someone from BF willing to edit it, especially since it doesn't require anything major, editing wise.

To me it feels like the whole freestyle scene is fading, not just this forum. By fixing the former the latter will improve as well. Then again the former can be fixed using the latter too. Nothing is going to happen though without someone to put in work who knows what he's doing and from what I can tell you have no one to do that job. Best of luck though.

Not related to marketing, but there is no suggestions thread now -

I think the main page of the site should be set out like http://www.parkour.com/
In the freestyle version It would have a blog of freestyle videos (maybe we could link it up with boomjakies facebook video/news blog) as well as links to learn Freestyle websites, an explanation of different freestyle areas(a freestyle version of this parkour page http://www.parkour.com/parkour-dojo/, equipment section with links to internet shops for freestyle(prodirect,ebay,soccer.com ect) and photos of freestyle ect.

The social network "beyond football" is futile because people use facebook more.

As for marketing, maybe you can convince the more famous freestylers to endorse the site (making promo videos, wearing beyond foot shirts)

It would be nice if someone who is good with editing could create a generic Beyond Football intro.  Is anyone up for that?  We will make it a requirment to use the intro for BF competitions.

How about creating a Beyond Football Summer video?  We need a dedicated member or moderator to take on the responsibility, however.  I know we got some great members here so I hope someone steps up to organize it.

As far as Facebook activity is concerned, we have a couple of peope who are interested in being admins of our Facebook page.  Is anyone else interested from here?  It would be their job to promote our page, website, and freestyle in general.

Suggestions thread - it's in General Chat.  Should we move it to Freestyle Chat?  I feel we already have many stickies in Freestyle Chat.

Endorsements from freestylers could be cool, especially if we can get the likes of Palle and Skora to put in some words since they were/are members on here.
