To learn to succeed, you must first learn to fail.
You can't know where you're going without good goals.
It's what you do that counts, but it's how you do it which separates you from the rest.
You can't have creativity unless you leave behind the bounded, the fixed, all the rules

Hard Candy (hard to watch but very good)
Worst movie ever. Alot of the scenes were not needed. Anyone with a functioning brain would have figured out what was about to happen to the guys nuts.
Started off well, then it just went down hill from there.
Also, insufficient ending. Who was the real molestor? I hate when movies do that.

Agreed.  Did not like that film... just my opinion though. :great:

Wristcutters: A Love Story
500 Days of Summer
Requiem for a Dream
Revolver
Amelie
Micmacs

Most def agree with some of the above, like Requiiem for a Dream and 500 Day of Summer.  You know what that mean?  I'm gonna have to check out the other movies you listed.

Jammy, you are spot on with Zeitgeist.  Just saw it last week and it was the best documentary I've seen so far.  Might be worthy of it's own thread and discussion.

Let's keep this thread going... lots of good stuff here.

I'll add another one: Elite Squad.  If you liked City of God, you'll like this as well.  Not quite as good but still very solid.

Adi, try finding "Metastaze".

Has all the things you hold close to your heart; football, fights, alcoholism, cursing etc.

Enter the dragon  :great:

Where can I get this?  What are some other great movies from the Balkans?

Wristcutters: A Love Story
Micmacs

"Getting" Micmacs right now.  Is Wristcutters worth it?

Post your recommendations on good movies that are not well known.

I have seen a lot of movies and would like to rent something random but pretty good.

I'll start it off with my recommendation... Old Boy.  Unique plot, twisted, and interesting!
that indeed is a very good movie, creepy as shit :P.

one of the movies i know very little people have watched, despite the critics, is Cinema Paradiso, maybe the best movie ever made, the most beautyful in my opinion at least.

Rocky Horror Picture Show liked mentioned before is a must watch, and Ghibli Studios movies are also beautiful, most of them.

For those who are really into movies, watch Stalker, for those who are not, well youll probably fall asleep after the first 10 mins.

I am looking into Stalker... hopefully I can watch it over the next few days sometime.  Gotta find out if Blockbuster has it.  I don't know about those other movies you listed.  I'm sure they are good, but not sure if I'd like them.  Cinema Paradiso has a solid rating on IMDB, but is it too artsy?  I want something interesting, and not just something that pure movie-experts enjoy.  I'm right in the middle somwhere.
