I'm annoyed i missed it too and im not too fussed Spain lost as even though their media will ridicule them for losing against the US, i doubt it'll affect them much and if anything it'll help them , so that they don't act like arrogant dicks in the world cup against lesser opposition. Hopefully America actually being in the final of a Global may raise a bit of awareness about football over there.

it is a gradual thing for football to start taking over in america, but winning a big competition like this is the quickest way to jump start popularity in the country. there will be people who never watch football who will watch the final. if we win, you could easily see rating for the next couple years pick up for national team games and mls games.  its not like winning the world cup, but it will definitely do a big number on making the sport more popular here. it would probably take winning the world cup to get football ahead of basketball and american football in this country though.

Guys chillax, im happy USA won, but its definetaly not anywhere near the greatest achievement USA have ever had..
its just the confederations cup, who takes a tournament with Iraq and New Zealand seriously?
Plus look at the pace of the matches, the tempo.. nobody is bothered or trying hard.. would you wanna get injured for the sake of a shit tournament!?

this is the second time we've ever beaten the number one ranked team.  this is the first time we've ever been in the final of an international tournament.  sure, it's the confederation's cup.  in fact, i wouldn't have cared if we would've gone out at the group stages, but still, it's kind of a big deal for us.

relative to the strength of our teams throughout the years, england 0 - 1 us 1950 wc is probably our greatest achievement.  i imagine it probably would've been like this team winning the world cup
