United won't let Barcelona play their style either. Barcelona is being hyped up too much. The problem is if Barcelona aren't allowed to play their style they are very poor. Sorry a great team can play any style.

It's always the team playing against Barcelona that must adapt in order to hinder Barcelona's style. Never the other way around. This is an obvious sign of a great team.

no, it's not, especially when you can not adapt to more effectively break the other team down.  it's not like barcelona played the same game and ran through chelsea like a buzzsaw

in so much as a great team will adapt to break the other team down

don't get me wrong, barcelona is one of the top teams in europe, but it's not because they play the same god damned way every game

well sorry, but they kind of did get here playing the same style every damned game. the teams that changed their styles in this competition have been chelsea and manunited who are normally attacking teams. they must change their game, because barca would punish them if they didn't. thats why chelsea played so defensively. barca kept plugging away at them with their intricate and technical passing and if finally paid off with goal that mattered. the only difference to barca's game that they may need is to add some directness to their game if the other teams sits back. this will open the game up allowing barca to play their style. probably the best option would be to switch henry to the CF role, because his experience with arsenal and the french national team during the world cup will be good for playing direct when necessary.

pretty much

and, that's a fault of their's.  it works for teams they can just rumble over

manunited

it's not so much that they are an "attacking" team.  they will play to whatever you give them e.g. arsenal first leg vs. arsenal second leg

first leg, yes.  through the second leg, chelsea did get men back in defense, but got forward often and in numbers

the soccer equivalent of banging your head against the wall

the only difference to barca's game that they may need is to add some directness to their game if the other teams sits back

which is part of what i was trying to get at throughout this entire thread
