old argument from back when liverpool and milan played in the two CL finals. i think most people have now realized that gerrad is better, because his level has stayed at the consistent very high level. kaka has been good, but hasn't been quite as consistent every season.

i think the inconsistency of AC Milan is more at fault than Kaka himself. When they faced each other in 2005 and in 2007, it was obvious that Kaka was better.

obviously kaka was better? kaka may have been better in some ways in 2005, but gerrard was the best player on the winning side in the final. in 2007 kaka couldn't do a thing all match until macherano was subbed off. he made one great pass, and everyone hailed him as the player of the game. inzaghi was the best player on the day, not kaka. i do agree that milan's inconsistency may contribute to kaka not seeming to perform at quite as high of levels of gerrard, but most of you all thought he was hands down that year just because he won the award. for me pirlo has always been just as important for milan as kaka. kaka is a great player, but not the level of gerrard.

For the most part in 2005, Kaka was better. Gerrard was just on the winning team.

And yeah, Pirlo has always been masterful, but again, the inconsistencies of Milan have held him back from keeping a consistent form. Players like Seedorf, Inzaghi, Pirlo, Kaka, and Maldini are no doubt great players, but together they don't seem to be able to keep each other going. Gerrard has always had the help of a much more team oriented Liverpool; not to take anything away from him. His defensive qualities are probably what puts him over Kaka anyway.
