Has anyone experienced it first hand? because I can't really make this judgement without experiencing it, but from what Ive seen on tv etc, American 'soccer' is a much poorer quality than English (ball control, passing, shooting technique), after all it is our game that almost everyone loves. footballs a game most americans take the piss out of from what Ive seen.

As a general rule, people who suck don't get paid to play.

We have had over 10 English guys come over here to play on our team. Most have played at some professional level over there, and they say that the level over here is much better than they anticipated. They think the players over here are pretty damn good.

Don't just look at the stereotypes. Yes, the Premiership is of higher quality than the MLS, but the level of the younger players here is almost as good as it is over there, if not better in some areas. It's just that there are not many places to play after you turn a certain age here. Just look at the youth teams that come over here from Europe. Madrid, Man U, and many others have come and lost to our local teams. Then you have Chelsea and other first team Premiership sides come here over the summer and tie or lose to MLS teams. I'm not trying to say we are better, but the quality is better than you think. It's just not as attractive to watch. I guess part of that would also depend on whether you know the players in MLS. When you know the players, it's much better.

Ok fair enough, but its the same here, the competition here is high, there are academies yeah, but getting scouted is really hard as all the premiership teams now go abroad to get players from south america and other places, so there are less and less scouts coming to watch youth games on saturdays and sundays now :(

And im sure you're right and there are a lot of very good players in America, but from what Ive seen, including those videos mr asjkjsk; posted, there is some really good stuff there, but they dont seem to have the flare ore technique as premiership and stuff, quite a few shots are scuffed and bounce/roll along the ground.

Yeah, you are right about the technique and flair... it isn't quite as great over here.

ADI GUESS WHAT?

My highschool team will face Toronto FC at BMO field. It's only for the first team though, and I'm in grade 9(lowest grade) so I have a very difficult chance of making the team since it's varsity, meaning it's the whole school. There's a reserve team, so I'm hoping I can atleast make that, and then next year I can go to the first team. ;)

Meh, I wrote that a bit confusing. When I say "first team" and "reserve team" that applies to my school teams.

And yes, we're facing the academy team.

I knew that.

Nevermind...

Are they paying for their players to play?
