Turning an ankle?
« on: Jan 01, 2009, 08:14: AM »
Yesterday I was doing some tricks and on one of them i came down out of the air and landed with my right foot on top of the ball and I turned my ankle.

Any idea how long this injury will last? Any tips for fast healing besides RICE?

good point about the doctor, but unless its real bad you should only need to do rice. maybe wear an ankle brace when you walk around and stuff. also don't play much for a few days until it doesn't hurt much when you are walking. unless you broke a bone in your ankle when you rolled it, you should be fine in at the most 2wks and just stick to rice.

that all depends on if he can put any weight on it or not.  if it's just twisted or something he can stay off it and it'll heal just fine.  if it's sprained or broken, he'll need some care if it's to heal properly.

edit:
actually even if he can put weight on it, it just depends on how serious it is.  i've had plenty of ankle injuries and even for ones i could limp around in, i've needed to get some care on it cuz it was badly sprained.

SEE A DOCTOR. No joke. I sprained my ankle really badly a couple years back, and without physiotherapy I'd still have scar tissue in there. But I'm fine and haven't even felt a twinge since. Also, this past summer I broke my collarbone playing soccer, and I thought it was a separated shoulder for like a week. All of my co-workers were advising me to see a doctor since I couldn't even move one side of my body, so I did, and I had a fracture. I would've had to have serious surgery if I hadn't seen a doctor, so yeah. SEE A DOCTOR.

jeez that must've sucked. Yeah I have a bump on my ankle from my sprain (it was REALLY bad) and my healed collarbone is now shape a bit different from my other one. But lets stop comparing battle scars

I know this topic hasn't been very active lately, but I suggest everyone with a serious injury to go to a specialist, like a doctor.

One day, my ring finger got stuck, now it's crooked

I bruised my shin in a match and a few weeks later I started to have aches in my ankle because the pressure on my ankle was too big.
