it's not that i don't necessarily agree with it either. losing respect in the middle east would be DEVASTATING, but my clearly biased opinion shouldn't prevent me from recognizing these things
however, we knew. if you're going to attack a nuclear power, you don't scream it from the rooftops. this is something where we would have the ability to know. we have the ability to know just about everything about any nation in the world. we don't have this ability with al qaeda which is scary. their vetting system is very sophiscated. you don't get into of al qaeda without the approval of someone on the inside. they have to KNOW you, and to be in the know, you have to be on the inside with the few hundred true members of al qaeda
on to afghanistan, usama bin laden wanted to fight us. he wanted to fight us and discredit us. he was fishing. he wanted the reaction he got after 9/11. it's not over yet...

of course there can't be peace in the middle east, too many dissenting opinions (among the people there and elsewhere) with too many things on the line. it's kind of like this forum, or any forum, with something on the line
