it's an ethnic group not a "race."  black is an appropriate term.  words like n-----, c---, and j-- are not appropriate when directed towards a black person, and depending upon the situation, they are punishable by law

don't kid yourself. race was huge part of this election. the only reason the race was close at all was the fact the obama is a black man. if he was white, the race would have been a landslide, and we would have known about it for a long time.  i support and voted for obama myself. i live in tennessee where i from first hand experience know that many people here mainly voted for mccain, because obama is black. i am ashamed that people think this way, but its the truth.

it was more than that.  it was a "let's make history" kind of thing.  do you think that a person voting against obama on race was voting democratic to begin with?  most states that are traditionally republican voted republican and vice versa
