large hadron collider cycles particles round a few mile long circular circuit speeding up to approaching the speed of light. they are then diverted to collide in the middle, where theres a big thing to moniter and analyze what happens. the energy and temperature reaches that very very close to that at the big bang and they hope to find a load of shit out. in particular the higgs particle, which would explain shit like gravity.
because this obviously hasnt been done before, some scientists have theorised a black hole many be created. but the chances of that happening are several billon to one. there is utterly no need to worry, though of course with something that could 'end the world' there is a load of stir mongering amongst the media. to think that the scientific community is in debate about things like human cloning and trivial shit like that, do you think theyd let this appocolypse go ahead if there was the slightest chance a black hole would appear? the chances are some of the largest odds youll ever find, and that video is bullshit a stupid, designed to create fear.
thats as i understand it, i went to cern on a school trip a year ago, but as with anything school related i diddnt pay too much attention
