That's absolutely right Tommy! This was the one I wanted to keep for later..I think it is one of the best riddles ever! ;) However, it is possible to solve it by asking only 1 question, you dont need 2.

Do you mean a weigh which I can compare balls or do you mean a scales on which you have to weigh them? I'm guessing the first.

Put them in pairs of three. Name the first pair X, second Y and the last Z

Put X and Y on a balancer

if the balancer says that X<Y, then the heavier ball is in the pair Y. Then just take two balls, compare them and if they are equal, then the ball which I didn't put on the balance is the heaviest

If X<Y, then take two balls from X, compare them and see whether one is heavier than the other. If not, it's the last ball in X which is the heaviest

if X=Y, then the heavier ball is in pile Z. Take two from there, compare and do as above.

This only contained 2 weighs though... didn't it?

A table ping pong ball fell into a tight deep pipe (amendment: eg. 30 cm long, buried in concrete pavement - having firm metal bottom, only 1 cm of the pipe is above the ground - so it can not be moved). The pipe was only a bit wider than the ball, so you can not use your hand. But you have a fork, wrench/spanner and a long thin plastic wire.

How would you take it out, with no damage?

this is obv not the answer, but do you like... tie the fork to the end of the wire and lower it down next to the ball and because forks have a curved forky bit, you can get a bit under it and roll it up. :\
