What, that bullshit pinging of the ball that gets nowhere? They were able to break down the Russians but they are still overdoing it with the worthless passing. Their best chances came of crosses from wide positions. Rather than cutting back from wing positions, they need to deliver the ball into the dangerous areas in the box. They'd be even more successful. Teams like Italy and Germany find ways to slow down Spain.

neither Russia nor Italy could get the ball very often, and Spain had them chasing their passes, causing their opponents to wear themselves out. Thats why Spain usually scores late. Italy put tone of people behind the ball so Spain couldn't penetrate, but something tells me that Germany won't do that.

Spain didn't get through Italy because of the reason you listed. That's their problem. They don't get through many good, strong, and organized teams. If you think Spain's passing and possession is the best, then think that. Realistically though, they don't create enough with their posession. Too often, it's just worthless and leads to nothing.

Germany's defense is not very good, so there will be room for Torres to do something. On the other hand, their midfield is excellent if Ballack plays. If Ballack plays, you won't see that same comfort in Spain's midfield. Fabregas won't be as dominant, trust me.

in terms of aesthetics and team play, they did play some of the most beautiful soccer I've seen. Clearly you're thinking of a Brazilaian style, which is a different kind of brilliance
