Serious Ribery Injury
« on: Jun 17, 2008, 10:39: AM »
I'm extremely upset right now about Ribery injury. He was the only player playing quite well for France and now he apparently has a broken lower leg. The diagnosis is not completely clear yet but it appears he'll miss at least 2 months.

I hope he can bounce back right. He was in a lot of pain after the injury as most of you could've seen. He was taken straight to the hospital after he got off the field.

Let's just all hope it's not as bad as it seems. :-[

They didn't show it in replay, which we knew wasn't a good sign. Hope it's nothing too serious.

They showed a free replays here but you couldn't tell much. There was no big snap in the leg from what I could see.

I also heard reports of an Achilles injury and a broken ankle. None of those are any good.

It didn't look too serious, but I guess it is.

I was pissed once he got injured, I knew it wouldn't be good for France.

well if its an achilles injury thats really bad for him because he's so quick not only in his running but in his dribbling as well

I've also heard stuff about a twisted knee. Shit, who knows anymore?! Seems like there's a new story every minute. I bet something more concrete will be up tomorrow.

Ribery injures his knee and ankle

Midfielder Franck Ribery sprained his ankle and hurt his knee during France's 2-0 defeat to Italy, a result that knocked them out of Euro 2008.

The 25-year-old fell awkwardly in the 10th minute as he challenged Gianluca Zambrotta and was carried off on a stretcher in visible pain.
Les Bleus manager Raymond Domenech said: "He has a nasty ankle sprain.

"As for the knee, we're not quite sure yet how serious the injury is. Further checks are needed."

Domenech added: "He's walking on crutches, he can't put his foot down."

FC Bayern website is reporting he has torn high ankle ligaments and will be out between 7-8 weeks. I hope he comes back 100%.

The injury sustained by Franck Ribéry in Tuesday evening’s Euro 2008 group fixture between France and Italy is a so-called high ankle sprain, a rupture of the syndesmosis ligament that connects the fibula to the tibia, Bayern and Germany chief medical officer Dr Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt announced after examining the 25-year-old winger at the Germany team base in Basel.

Ribéry will now undergo surgery on Thursday in Munich to repair the damage, and will be out of action for the next seven to eight weeks. The midfielder will almost certainly play no part in the DFB German Cup first round on the second weekend in August, and is already doubtful for the first Bundesliga matchday a week later.

According to the Bayern website, the surgery went very well. If the rehab goes as planned, he'll be back for the season opener on the 15th of August.
