EURO 08 Attacking Football.
« on: Jun 14, 2008, 11:09: AM »
Well i've watched nearly every Euro game so far and something i have realized is that the Dutch, Russians, Portugese, Spaniards, and maybe a few more teams are using counter-attacking football.

The Dutch are exceptional at it seeing as they cant see to miss when they come close to goal, the spaniards as well.
The portugese and russians, have numerous chances but can only net 1 or 2.

Your thoughts?

The Spanish dont really lose the ball very often when they go on the attck....it's more of a prolonged counter attack as opposed to the short counter attacks that the dutch use. The Spanish still see far more of the ball than the other teams that they play, and they can string like 20-40 passes together without the other team touching the ball. Against Sweden, at the beginning of the 2nd hald, I counted 40 passes over a space of two minutes with the swedes touching the ball only once  :saywhat:

It's building lots of goals, and all of the non-soccer watchers that say soccer is boring because there is no goals are being proven wrong by the nice counter-attacking.

It's changing those noob's minds. ;)

My friends stereo-type soccer and say it's always 1-0 in soccer.

yeah I read an article on the bbc website that said that a spanish win in the euros will be a huge boost for soccer because the spaniards play a very aesthetic and beautiful form of the game

Swedes would be excellent at it aswell seeing how strikers we have but unfortunately the midfield has zero speed and zero skill
Fx blesses himself before a patw combo, Tiernan blesses himself before a neck to sole transition.... but hey thats next generation

It' still a lot more exciting than basketball... I'd rather scream my lungs of for 3-4 times in 90 minutes, than seeing a goal scored every 20-30 seconds.
