Ricky Hatton v Floyd Mayweather
« on: Dec 14, 2007, 11:44: AM »
did anyone see the fight around last week? i never normally watch boxing matches but i couldnt ressist all teh hype and the classic british vs american thing. i stayed up till 4 watching it online, lennox lewis was right about his predeiction on hatton would need to have knocked him out by the 4th round or he wouldnt stand a chance.

hatton was going gung ho in the first few rounds until he got tired and some great defence by mayweather. and opened up a can of whoop ass when hatton was tired.

it was bound to happen as mayweathers arms are 6" longer and hes taller.

did anybody else watch the fight?

Didn't watch it.  I had a friend that did.  Said that it was surprisingly good.  Floyd Mayweather has been pretty cagey his past few fights.

For what it's worth, most of the Brit v. American shit comes from your side.

i knew mayweather was going to win, his style of fighting and being patient has worked well in the past and i thought it wuld work well against hatton, hatton was solid throughout the match but leading up to the knockout, mayweather was just stream rolling and nothing could stop him

I didn't get to see it because it cost $50+ on PPV here and only one local bar was showing it.

Anyways, the fights was really hyped up and I enjoyed it. Saw the weigh-in and the English fans were brilliant. It felt like I was watching an English derby.

I was actually rooting for Hatton because I don't like Mayweather's cocky ass. Either way, Mayweather is just too damn good. I thought it would be down to the judges decision; didn't think Hatton would get knocked out.

Please post highlights if you have them. :boxing:

yea i just saw the fight over again on HBO aswell, hatton's strongest round was the 6th imo when he had full control of the ring, the 9th round was awful for him as he landed 0 of his punches on mayweather, in the 10th round hatton just got clocked too many times and is the reason why he fell backwards and lost

Word is that Floyd was in his locker room and was being broadcast onto the big screen during the anthem.

A large portion of America wanted to see Mayweather get his ass beaten.
