I think we have started a real Rooney debate here haven't we? Rooney has been rather unlucky with injuries the past couple of years but you can't doubt his natural talent. Remember that he is still only 22, younger than Torres, Adebayor etc. who play in the Premiership.
He is not necessarily an out and out striker though. He plays best with a striker who stays high and gets in behind, leaving Rooney to come deep, connect things and run at people. I think he is such an all round player that he can play in any sort of striking role but there's no doubt he is at his best when dropping into the hole. By playing with Tevez I think it has nullified him slightly at times. Remember how great he was in Euro 2004 when he played with Owen? He was fantastic. Even since then he has scored big goals for Man. Utd. I just can't see how people don't see the amazing natural ability he has. When Rooney is fully fit, you see a player better than Tevez, better than Adebayor. You are talking about a player that is one of the best in the world. I'll hold my hands up in that I am English and slightly biased but please guys, you cannot tell me that this lad doesn't have great ability.
