Game discussion
« on: Jan 04, 2013, 11:14: AM »
I find it funny that this section is called General Chat - Games, Movies, Music, etc yet games are almost never discussed.
What games are you playing currently? What are you looking forward too playing?
I'm playing Drakensang The River of Time. I think it's based on a German rpg similar to the American Dungeons and Dragons. Damn they over complicate things. I haven't played D&D but I hear it's easy to pick up.
I've heard Dragon Age origins on the pc is very good, I'm looking forward to playing that.

Some guy made an image of the games that will be released this year, I'm not going to imbed it since it's like 2.8mb 1700X 3500+: http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/187umepb7vqvnjpg/original.jpg

I think the games mentioned may have been forum games. There are some literal game threads on here. I remember seeing one where you are supposed to write one sentence to a story, and the next person writes the next sentence. There used to be plenty of things like that.

Nah, we used to have a Tech and Games forum and there used to be quite a few video game threads on there.  I think when you merge boards/topics, people tend to forget what they can write about.

Anyways, I only play Call of Duty Black Ops II right now.  Love that game.  I used to play FIFA all the time but since finishing college I've stopped.  In college we used to compete with each other all the time, so now that the guys are no longer around, I don't feel like playing FIFA anymore.

Dragon age origins is definitely for you if you like D&D.
I did the tutorial part for the mage elf, I have a feeling this game is huge.
Do you have any tips? What's pointless to invest in for a mage? I've chosen the attacks that take health and replenish your own, I can't see a better choice than that for attacks.

lol all reviews say the opposite. They say it's been dumbed down, features removed, more linear, less customization, boring environments and more. And you can't even choose your race!

I finished DA:O and the expansion. I enjoyed it despite the repetition. The characters in this one are good but a bit odd in the sense that it's a type of personality that doesn't seem like it could exists. Story was alright, definitely not as epic as the were trying to get it to be but still enough drive to continue on.

I'm glad this DA:O has tactics, I've played a lot of DA2 and man the game has changed for the worse. Very little planning now and the mage doesn't feel like a mage. Those attacking animations are so bad with the stuff, it's like it was catered to children. Teleporting bosses is a load of shit, they tried to make the combat faster but the cooldowns still stay the same which made the mage just use it's staff and those weird animations over and over and I just sat there waiting for everything to die.
What's with having the same dungeons with sections blocked out?!
GOD! The dialog choices and the voice of your avatar suck. Why didn't they just make it like the first one? Why can't I see what my character is about to say? Never pick the 'humerous' option, it's always inappropriate and just plane wrong. When someone dies in front of you, you don't make a witty remark about how he/she shouldn't have done something. I didn't even realise what the story was until I read it on a forum, I thought I was still in the beginning stages of the game.
I'm getting close to the ending I assume, since the story is being told. Such a downgrade so far, hope the ending is good at least.
