Working to htlatw
« on: Dec 06, 2012, 07:48: PM »
I wanna work towards this trick to hopefully land it before next year just to annoy knnnth :p. However I wanna do it right, step by step building up to it. Need some help on the steps. I will obviously do the latw with sf. Right now I can do 1/10 times wf htatw and about 1/10 times alatw sf (just to state current progress on trick, I will start practicing at lower level)

WF touch:

consistent 10 or more hatw's.
Consistent htatw into   4 htatw  (maybe palle trick wf?)
Maybe something like magellan to get that perfect high hatw?

Alatw part:

3 latw's, 2 latw's consistent
alatw alatw
???

Any advice/steps are very much appreciated. Things like OMG GO DO RANDOM HTW ATW THINGS DO BASIC BLABLA arent. I obviously do those things too I just like bigger goals to keep motivation.
I'm a beginner, help me!

Your goal is unrealistic. 10% chance to hit things that you need to hit 90%+ of the time is a major problem. Maybe when you're a little more advanced you could try this.

I practiced a lot of alatws from footstall I could do 3 without failing. High and fast htatw and hhtatw are also some moves you'll want to practice. Try to do the high and fast htatw without the touch at the end and instead catch it with your hand. Magellan will improve your touch, practice that also. Magellan to footstall can help if you're doing the first part super fast and the second part just controlled.
The set up is the easy part, it doesn't take long for the average freestyler to be able to set up a high ball from an atw motion.
I wouldn't say latw is all that important for htlatw if you can do alatw.
Don't be afraid to hit the ball into your own nuts, it will happen. Make sure you rest properly. I suggest you train strong foot to weak foot. Strong foot will always have a better set up touch but your weak foot can become just as fast as your strong foot.

At the time I could do 3 alatws(both ways), alatws were nothing for me. I didn't train for 1.5+ years and I have an injury but I tried to do as many alatws as I could without dropping the ball and I managed to do around 7-8. What I'm trying to say is your alatw hit rate should be much higher or you'll be wasting valuable training time where you could have perfected your alatw and htatw before trying to do htlatw.

The steps are things I will train before even attempting the htlatw ofc. I dnno about doing the alatw wf. My wf isnt very solid, I land like 1/20 latw's wf at the moment. (+ slight injury ).  But thx, great post.

My biggest problem right now is weather. Its snowing and freezing right now -> slippery ball -> borderline impossible to train WF hatw tricks.

1/1000 chance to be exact. With those odds it's better to train something that you can achieve in the next 20 or so days left of the year. Train to get footstall to alatw. At least that will set you up for next year and you can get it within the time limit.
If you set unachievable goals you'll end up wasting your time and feeling shit by the end of it. Feeling shit on NYE is not a good way to start the new year.

He won't believe
It's funny, he says "I wanna do it right, step by step building up to it" yet he doesn't understand that to perfect something takes a lot more time.

You guys dont realise, that if I prepare for this, I learn the earlier steps. Its not like after 3 weeks if I dont land it I didnt train anything. My alatw, hatw, left foot touch etc will all be much better.

To learn to succeed, you must first learn to fail.
It's what you do that counts, but it's how you do it which separates you from the rest.
You can't have creativity unless you leave behind the bounded, the fixed, all the rules.

:great:

Dude, if you really think you can make it before 2013, you should wake up. You will probably fuck up your knee/something else in the process as your muscles arent developed enough for the trick. And even if you do it (the odds are like 1:100000), you will be extremely incomplete freestyler and nobody likes incomplete freestylers  I personally hate when somebody can do 3 revs already and is unable to do 30 trick long combo/has shitty weak foot/lacks variety in lowers.
