Freestyling in the winter
« on: Oct 08, 2012, 02:36: AM »
This is my my first year freestyling, so as such, this is also my first winter freestyling. I thought I could just tough it out and keep freestyling as usual since I live in the Southern US, so I thought my winter was going to be cool at best. However, it was 55 degrees yesterday, and my legs were so cold I had difficulty doing a lot of my tricks.

So, what do you guys do when the cold weather comes around and you wanna go outside and freestyle? Any and all advice is welcome, like the kind of clothing you wear, etc.

Are you SERIOUSLY complaining about the weather being 55 degrees? Norwegians will eat you alive.

Edit: So you know the guys up in chicago have meets when it gets below 0, we'd love to have a winter that was 55 degrees warm. Most other countries would kill for it to be even 30 degrees. You really have no reason to complain.

You could find a local gym and freestyle there. I usually warm up quite fast, even in the winter, by starting off with doing some lower combos to get the blood pumping.

I agree that 55 degrees is nothing, and you should be fine. The only thing you need to do when training in the cold is dress appropriately, warm up and stretch more, and remind yourself you still need to hydrate despite it being cold. Other things you can do is stretch inside to make sure your muscles don't get tight. You must warm up and stretch more when it's cold outside. I honestly train in the snow, because I don't have anywhere else to train. If you really don't like the cold, try to find somewhere to train indoors.

Thanks guys. I didn't mean to sound rude, it'sjust that I live in an area that hasn't seen snow in decades, so I'm not too experienced with freestyling in colder weather.

Argentina here in winter is not very cold, so it is not trained in polar climates
you stretch and warm up well before training
or looking for a warm place to train, preferably having roof
sorry if you do not understand, do not master English very well  :(

I think up to 15° fahrenheit I will train outside with my standard shorts/tshirt. If the state of the road allows it.
I'm a beginner, help me!
