Xbox 360 Memory Unit
« on: May 08, 2008, 07:40: AM »
Okay, so I borrowed my friend's Xbox for a week, and I have quite a bit of gamerscore for just one week.. so I'd like to keep my gamer profile and try to transfer it to my hard drive on my Xbox that's coming soon.

So, here are my plans.

  • Buy a 64MB memory unit.
  • Transfer my gamer profile from his hard drive to my memory unit.

Would everything be okay? Does this sound like a good plan? I intend to use the memory unit for my gamer profile and my hard drive for my gamesaves and downloadable shit, or I can keep everything on my hard drive and just use my memory unit whenever I'm going out, so that'll take me 10 minutes everytime I want to put all my stuff back on the memory unit.

Also, how do I transfer my account to my memory unit?

dont bother with the memory unit its shit. my sister got one because she though she could transfer her devil may cry 4 data and achievements because they were on my gamertag but the memory unti only acts like extra memory not transferable like the ps2 memory cards. its for people who dont own the hard drive version which i think is stopped being produced now.

ohhh and great news on the xbox 360 you can recover your gamer tag onto another console transferring all your achievements etc.

once you have transferred your tag to your new 360 which you have to just fill in your email, gamertag and password sometimes it could take around 10 minutes depending how much game saves you've got. the only thing you cant transfer is downloadable content.

once you have recovered your gamertag on to your own console from your friends 360 tell him to go on the dashboard "system" "memory" select the hard drive then "gamer profiles" select yours and delete it off his hard drive. it wont perminant remove your data and GT because you use the restore a gamertag feature to get it back.

So do game saves recover too? Or would I need to select it off the hard drive on my friend's Xbox?

And I just noticed you could use any USB drive. So I'll save $40!

yeah when you recover the gamertag onto a different console all your saves and achievements transfer to your console.

with usb sticks i think you can only use it to store pictures, theme and play music. for some reason it wont let you store music maybe because of potential illegal downloads but as far as i know you cant store game saves on it.

i dont think so. when you recover your gamertag onto your own xbox it could take a while to transfer all your achievments and games im not sure about downloadable stuff though. should be fine if the stuff you have downloaded was free and not paid for so you could easily re-download it.
