absolutely knackered after 1 hour sessions if that
« on: Jul 01, 2012, 07:41: PM »
i want to train hard but can barely last 40 minutes without getting exhausted.
I'm not unfit and have been training for a while but would like some tips on stamina building. I do focus hard and train hard in those 40 minutes to an hour but after that i can barely rotate my leg anymore. Tbh it could be because i have been training in really high heat recently but anyway enough of that, any tips on effective stamina improvement, no need to be drastic i want something simple and effective even if it will take time.

Thanks people, the reason i want stamina is to be able to peform longer combos withoutgetting exhausted.

peace out + have a good summer ppl!
xx

40 minutes?! What is your diet like?
I haven't done any stamina oriented exercises in months but I'm sure I could pull of at least an hour.

-Don't break combos.
-Don't use crossovers to save combos.

just use your mind to keep doing more each day, like 50 minutes tomorrow then one hour - you have to force yourself
take a red bull, gatorade or powerade if you want
get a good nights sleep
its what worked for me before

I would start off by varying it so that you are not doing 40mins of pure lowers to start off with but instead, add short sessions of uppers and sits in between.

the thing is guys, i'm into sport, i know how to train and focus - diet is ok could be better. for some weird reason after 40 minutes i hit this brick wall and i quite literally run out of breath. then again it could be the heat, i trained in 35 degree heat in china today under the sun - bad idea. I will take your adivce ppl and gradually increase my session times, it scientifically makes sense - the more i increase training time the more my stamina will increase.

peace out
xx

Do loads of skipping, running etc..
I was in Egypt and it was 35 degrees.. I couldn't do much more than 90 minutes.. I usually do 3-4 hours at home.
So it's probably the heat :)

There are many factors that come into this. Fitness is just one of them. Depending on how hard you are training, 1hr or 40min could be enough to tire anyone. If you do very high intensity stuff, you will be exhausted very quickly. The heat will tire you without even exercising, so that is most likely the logical explanation. My recommendation is to drink alot of fluids. You also need a bit more than water. Try drinking something like gatorade as well as water to makes sure you are getting the proper hydration and nutrition during your training.

true that reds, this is very logical. i think i'm just gonna start training at night times because i can't handle high heat - i don't think it's healthy to train under 35 degree sun. the fluids bit is evident and yes maybe a drink with electrolytes and salt might give me an extra boost, thanks.

On my way back from coaching football the other day, it was 50 degrees. It's been about 40 for the past 3-4 days where I live. I still train outside, but I just make sure I have plenty of fluids.

tbh at those temperatures isnt it better to not train? Looks really unhealthy to me to train in the sun in that heath. When I still played football practice was cancelled when it was over 35° celcius in the shadow because of health risks.
I'm a beginner, help me!

Not unhealthy if you have the right amount of fluids with you and you are smart. Professional sports teams still have games and trainings in this type of heat. I think what it was with your football team was it was a youth team. I remember that when I was in highschool if the temperature was hot enough, all sports teams would be barred from training.

Once I started playing college soccer it was different. We trained no matter the temperature outside. We did the 2mile test in over 40 degree weather. Our coach told us that 12 minutes was the time he expected us to make it in. No one on the team passed the test.
