I've had this happen to me several times. It's always kind of awkward answering them. I don't like lying just to make people feel better in almost any circumstance. Normally it's a really shitty video, and I've always seen it before.

I recently was sent this one.

Comercial da nike - Ronaldinho

It is a classic NIKE commercial that does have to go down as one of the inspirations to freestyle, but it's a fake. Problem is most people who just casually follow football don't realize this. They think this is real, and it's amazing. I know I even thought it was at first, but NIKE eventually even admitted to it being faked. This time my friend just accused me of being a know it all and jealous of Ronaldinho's skill. Truth is, I'm definitely jealous of his football skills, but not this video.

I've been sent other ones like this FIFA Street commercial which sadly most people still think is real. Credit to the uploader on this version explaining the kicks are real, but the ball was later edited into the video.

Terrific freestyle football in the streets

So, I'm wanting to know if this happens to you guys regularly, and how do your think you should respond to your friend or just not respond.

2nd video...  :043:

Ronaldinho video brings back good memories.

Although Ronaldinho's video isn't really freestyle and the second video is fake with those kicks, it's still credit to freestyle in some way.  I think freestyle is different for everyone.  True freestylers see it as hardcore combos, etc but soccer fans see any soccer trick as freestyle.  I can't argue they are wrong although it's not freestyle by our definition.

I used to love the Ronaldinho video as well, but now that we know it's fake I do have a problem with it. That was in the era of all the great NIKE commercials. Ronaldinho was more than capable of  doing something real that would have really impressed me.

The FIFA Street video is just ridiculous and retarded. Anyone that thinks it is real is a complete moron, but once again we have proof of a large amount of the world population being retarded.

I hate these fake videos, because it gives freestylers an unrealistic thing to compete with. Stupid kids on the internet think this shit is real, so us freestylers have to compete to top the fake shit.

As far as the freestyle definition goes, I can't stand it when I see freestylers say "that is not real freestyle" meaning more or less only hardcore combos is real freestyle. This is complete bullshit. Freestyle has a very simple and easy definition, a free style of playing with a football. I'd actually consider that Ronaldinho video to be freestyle, it's just fake.  The 2nd video is just fake nonsense, but the one or two clips of actual tricks is freestyle. I thought it was hilarious how they show a guy do tatw and a guy do neck stall when everyone else is doing 720 tornado kicks. That's how dumb non-freestylers are. They don't realize the neck stall and tatw is way simpler than the other things.

Anyways, back to the point. I don't think freestylers should be complaining about what type of freestyle non-freestylers enjoy. We should  instead be encouraging non-freestylers into freestyle any way possible. If they become a part of the community, they will learn the difference.

My friends know what hardcore freestyle is and they understand that hardcore is way harder then Ronaldihno's boring videos.

Second: I hate people who say Ronaldihno's videos are great, that he is the best freestyler, and then they see a real freestyle video and they say it's fake. WTF? How can that be faked?

The second video isnt completely fake, most of the guys are from Team Ryouko which is some hardcore tricking team and there is a video on YT showing the making of the clip.

But yeah, there are also parts like 0:20 or 0:35 which are totally fake.

I'll explain exactly what they did. They did actually kick the ball in most scenes, but not all. The tornado kicks were the main example used in the making of video. They would toss a ball into the air, and the martial artist would kick it randomly in a direction. They would later edit the clips to make it look like they were kicking the ball to each other. The only 100% real clip in the video is the kicking it off the head stall scene. As far as a freestyle or a soccer video goes, it's is complete fake garbage. As a martial arts video, I guess it's somewhat ok. I'd rather them just kept the raw clips, because just kicking a ball like that is pretty cool looking.

No offense to my friends, but knowing that I like freestyle stuff, sending me Joga Bonito NIKE ads with Ronaldinho and stuff is pretty dumb. I mean, do they really think I've never seen it? It would be like me sending Beethoven to a friend of mine that plays classical music. Have you heard this before?

Somewhat ok ? Team Ryoku or team2x now is friggin hardcore. the guy doesn't do a "tornado kick " its called a corkscrew. I saw the making of the video aswell . that front flip catch was real too. it just took a lot of takes. Team2x is from Toronto and sometimes they are training at the same gymnastics place that i go to. trust me, they are sick !
