Barca sign 6 year old

Barcelona have secured the services of six-year-old Brazilian talent Artur Miani.

Miani was able to impress while on trial at La Masia in May after his sister had signed him up on the Catalan club's official website.

He received a letter on Friday from Barca announcing that he had passed the tests and that he would be able to join the club's youth ranks in September.

"This is a huge pride," Artur's father, Adilson Miani, told Globoesporte. "He played against kids he had never seen before in his life.

"He even dealt with the jet lag and the long trip. I am very happy.

"My son has been approved by one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"They have not yet sent any info, or said if they will help with the costs, but we are already thinking about how we will cope with this.

"He is six years old, so he cannot go alone. I cannot leave the country right now, so his mother will probably go with him there."

Apart from having to leave his country, he is +- guaranteed a pretty decent live. Even if he doesnt make it as a football player he will still recieve a good education.

They have scouts everywhere. And at that age those wonderkids usually stand out really hard.

No, i think its a little weird that they contact him already, they cant fully judge how good he is when hes only 6 years and only have been there once..

They dont care, they can get 20 6 year olds, give them place to stay and education. If only one of them becomes a player like fabregas or iniesta (not to say messi) you win back all that money.

+ if you take a talented  young player and give him the barca youth system chances are pretty big that he will make it to a first division team somewhere.

Ya, this isn't really much different than what happened with Messi. They discover a kids that is above average for his age group, they will do this. The kid will get the best possible football training, so it's very likely that he'll at least become a professional level player whether it's for Barca or not.

They will also probably put his family in a house and provide them with more as well. In a few years, they may even start paying the family for the kids training and playing for the youth team.

Messi was 15 tho wasnt he? And after world champs nobody offered him a contract so barca got him ridiculously cheap.

Lets put it this way. This kid is not the 1st kid to be signed by a club under 10yrs age.

Barcelona spends more money on their youth system than some top teams on their regular transfers.

I'll always be in support of that.  That's how things are supposed to be done.
