How to make Beyond Football better. Need your feedback!

Hello freestylers,

I need your help. I'm trying to make Beyond Football (www.beyondfootball.com) the YouTube of freestyle football. How can I do this. I can't change the script or design because I already spent a lot of money on it but I could use some tips on making the site bigger.

I would like to change the video player so it's in flash and similar to the one on YouTube. Also, I'm looking into making it clearer on how to submit videos.

Is there anything that's keeping you all from the site. I don't see why more people don't submit their videos there. Thanks for any feedback.

Honestly, if you want to make it better and changing the script is an option, you should just change the script, or design. I could personally help you with the design. Make "Beyond Football" in big text across the header. Add a big upload button right underneath it too. Also, a multiploader (reference: imageshack.us, there's an option for uploading more than one video at a time) would be nice, and like you said, making the video flash. Making the video crystal clear would help too. Maybe make something that automatically converts the video to the corresponding resolution of the video player you're going to use.

EDIT: Also, if you really look it YouTube, it has a big name, the first thing people think about when they hear online videos is YouTube, maybe giving Beyond Football an easier, shortened name (Beyond Football is great, just maybe too long), and on YouTube.com they really emphasize their videos, they really put them out there (e.g. videos being watched now), maybe you should put a "Video of the Week" thing on the front page to show off some really good videos, and you or Oli can judge the best videos uploaded. Also, go around different forums, download their videos then upload them to Beyond Football, make it the Freestyle YouTube, put every single freestyle video out there on it. It will become the main portal of freestyle!

Yeah Borg is right! Also as you see in my latest freestyle videos I make commercial for beyondfootball as I actually want it to grow in any means possible, I'll upload my videos to beyondfootball.com aswell when I get the chance, I could also add some other videos..

One thing you need to change tho is.. The site desing. Make it more "youtube alike"

The Layout is good, but maybe you shouldnt layout the videos how they are, like you scroll down and it has a list of videos and looks sorta boring, like you gotta make it more interesting, it sounds stupid but thats what i tihnk. Like you scroll down and you see wierd freestyle pictures and advertisements.

Have a search option included in finding videos and dont count on people uploading videos, you upload all recent freestyle videos, get rid of where it says who uploaded it, just upload all videos people release, and dont show them on the homepage. Have people click on videos to see them, maybe categorize videos of peoples names, so people can keep track of the progression of a certian freestyler. And it would be easier to just choose palle and see all his videos instead of having to search constantly for the video you want to see of his. Yeah and having a flash thing so you can view the video on the site would be great for this.

Another good idea is to include the latest information on football and football goss, like championships, world cup (when it was on) etc, dont just focus on freestyle on the site, focus on football and more people will come to the site looking for information about how their team stands

There is already a rating system as well as a comment system. There is also a list of the top rated videos and most voted for videos.

The site really is nice and has good features... people are just not using them. :'(

There is a search at the top right of the site. It's not as good as YouTube but it will help you find some videos.

I could upload recent videos but I don't want to mess with copyright laws and such. As stated on the site, people are responsible for what they upload and if they upload their own videos, then everything is cool. I suppose I could go out and ask the freestylers if I can upload their videos as I've been doing with a few of them.

I should look into making a little chart that shows the top contributers. Maybe a top 10 list for people who submit the most videos and help the site.

You should put all the top league tables on the right hand side..

And then a little box to the left of each one saying who has the most goals.  :thumbsup:

Well i think you should remove the videos and have summeries of articles on the site, or like just the intro of the article, and have this thing, "click here to read full story or wateva, and have heaps of them on the home page. I can understand you want to show new videos added to the site, but yo ucan do that eaesily if you wrote it, like "check our new updated freestyle videos" etc and little things like that will make people explore the site. Get ppl to write articles about certian topics and make sure they are interesting, i personally would be h appy to write articles for you, as it would also be good for my english writing skills.

I still think you should add videos yourself, and i can understand copyright issues, so you should ask freestylers if you can upload there video get them to write something or something if neccesary then upload all the videos of them. And get rid of the thing where it says who uploaded the video, it would be stupid if all the videos had submitted by Adi, you kno what i mean.

You can't change it although I think it's the (only and) best solution to make BF more attractif..
