Betting on Freestyle

Just thought about this... would betting on freestyle football work?  Say they were odds for RBSS and Prague.

Would it work and would you bet on freestyle?

Betting on competitions based on judges opinions is only good to get interest from sleazy guys fixing competitions. Dont see the point anyway.
I'm a beginner, help me!

Betting would be super unpredictable with freestyle, because it's really just an opinion who wins. Also, judging varies competition to competition. I also don't think there are enough people interested in freestyle with money to burn to bet on freestyle yet. I'd say over half the current freestyle community is under 18 as well.

Yeah, I don't think I'd go for it either.  With such a small community it seems "fixing" could be a real issue.  Imagine if there was a $100,000 bet on Andrew to win... what's to stop Andrew or some crooked judges to purposely lose the battle to let someone win the money?

It would definitely be tough, but would be cool if it wasn't about money.  Maybe creating a competition among fans to bet on who will win.  Just for fun.  This could be cool and there could be a total point system throughout the year.  Different odds so you don't pick the obvious winners, etc.

In other sports like boxing, tennis, football etc referees can easily influence results too and and sometimes take bribes from betting companies to do this.

What is a foul? Is the serve a fault or on the line? Below the belt hit or not? All opinions.

But fs is much more opinion based so i don't think it would work. What trick is harder, good or bad style, creative or not and everything in freestyle are all about opinions. For fun betting, with no money, would not work either for the same reason.

But it might work in a competition like the 'Pass it on' comp where there is no need for judges and the winner is clear.

forget Ronaldinho....only one deserves the -inho suffix......Jabarinho!!!!

I don't agree.  It's fun... you make your prediction on what you think judges will look at and all that.  If you think Andrew is the best freestyler, then you'll bet on him in this fun betting scenario.  If you know exactly what's going to happen and how everything will be judged/reffed then there's no point to a bet or gamble.  It's a bet/gamble for a reason... because there is the unknown.

well yeh i suppose. Since many people vote in for fun 'who will win rbss?' polls then they would also bet for points too.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.  Making it about hard $$$ would be tough though... I do agree there.

I think it's possible for some things..like if its a great performer like Henderson against a noob like me  :lol_hitting:
But I still wouldn't bet on it because it's pointless..match fixing would start and fs battles would become more money oriented than fun

According to the poll, more people think it would work than not. Interesting.
