Why single out RBSS? It's not like other competitions have every decision spot on...

Word!!

Freestyle will always have those "faulty" decisions, because it's a matter of opinion. We don't have goals like in football to set the winner. Entering to a RBSS or any other kind of competition is everyones own decision, so no need to start bitching...

Dont get me wrong Sean and Azun were worthy winners but on the whole RBSS has the most controversial decisions. I mean the jury for some RBSS events have been an absolute joke. Other freestyle comps like Prague and WFFC have real freestylers as judges and therefore the decisions are on the whole better. Common sense really.

And some of the competitions with "real freestylers as judges" also had judges which were a joke or at least highly debatable. Also, there have been more RBSS comps worldwide than of any other competition so your comparison isn't really spot on.

If its a close battle there is no problem if a wrong decision is made. But RBSS is the only competition where breakdance moves and back flips are valued higher than technical freestyle moves. The Tom vs Daniel decision and the Faruk vs Martin Shopf decision would not happen in any other comp.

And it's also the only competition which uses a tiny denim ball that no one ever used before.

I understand it is hard to send freestylers to judge RBSS in every country. But it's still fun to bitch about it
forget Ronaldinho....only one deserves the -inho suffix......Jabarinho!!!!

So basically it's OK if a "wrong" decision is made by freestylers and it's a act of terror if it's done by a bboy, football player or some random black person with shades dressed in Monta clothes?

I think it's all about the degree of incorrectness - if that's a word.

Some of this stuff is obvious.  Hell I don't freestyle, but I could easily tell you who did better in all those videos.  These judges should have at least my knowledge if they want to judge... and that's setting the bar fairly low.

I just hope this doesn't end up like video replays in footy where they argue that it's part of the game, blah, blah... poor judging is no good.  It creates conversation and debate, but it's no good if it's obviously wrong.

2012 Japan final Tokura vs Yosshi was pretty shitty decision!

That was neither the final of the competition nor the national final. That was the semi-final of the Tokyo QUALIFIER.

The national final took place yesterday in Nagoya and Tokura won.

BTW, don't really see the point of this topic other than having yet another topic where freestylers bitch about something...

My bad Miran. Thanx for correct. I am glad it wasnt the final... Just what is difference between Red Bull companies around the world when in Japan they can afford like 1000 qualifications and in my country as in some other (Croatia etc) they dont want to do a single one.

Still the worst decisions have happened in RBSS in my opinion, You can change the title and include others if you want

if it's a freestyler they could probably begin to justify their decision because they have a general understanding of the tricks etc that were just done. Whereas the others have no genuine understanding and therefore there is no chance they could even begin to justify an incorrect decision

It kinda goes hand in hand if you ask me.

If the judge is a quality freestyler, then he shouldn't make a big mistake.  If he does, he obviously doesn't know what to look for... either that, or he's just a shit freestyler who has something against a particular style of freestyle.  Either way, not much better than a football player making a wrong decision.  Hell, you can argue it's almost worse.  Qualified people shouldn't make big mistakes like the ones in the videos.

One of the worst I think was Oli beating Michryc in Prague 2010... and that was with a full freestyler judging panel
Also nobody mentioned Boomsjakie vs Andrew in RBSS 2010
