David Villa breaks leg
« on: Dec 15, 2011, 09:45: AM »
Ouch!

Out for 4-5 months.  How will this impact Barcelona and Spain?

Barca has Alexis Sanches and they can slot Messi as the forward, but this is not ideal.  Same goes for Spain... Torres will have to step up.  This might be good for his confidence.

:043:  I'd love to see that but I don't think he will ever be able to replace david villa

Spain are in DEEP shit because villa is the only good striker they have now. Spain's bench is ridiculously good but they still rely on villa's goals.

Possible replacements: Soldado, llorente, torres, negredo. Hmmmm not bad.........if its a 3rd division shit team!
I would recommend manu del moral from sevilla. Awesome goalscorer even though he plays left wing. But i doubt spain will choose him.

But barca do not need him. Villa play left wing for barca and they do not rely on his goals.
forget Ronaldinho....only one deserves the -inho suffix......Jabarinho!!!!

SPAIN:
---------------Torres---------------------
Pedro------J.Mata--------David Silva
----------Iniesta----Xavi----------------
-------------Busquets-------------------
------Ramos--Puyol--Pique------------
--------------Casillas--------------------
Everything is fine :)
Barca will do nicely without him.

Oh, he is a excellent player, Barca needs him. It's gonna be tough for them in the match against Santos.

I agree with Liverinho, I think Barca and Spain will be fine.

People are over-reacting.  Spain still has serious talent up top.  Torres might get back to his best now that he's got no competition for Spain.  His ability was never in question... he simply lost his confidence.

I hope Spain doesn't win, but they are still clearly the favorites... same with Barca.

this may sound strange but i have never been a fan of fernando torres. He has awesome speed but nothing else.

He is good, no doubt, but not world class like rooney, drogba, eto'o, aguero, higuain, benzema, messi, ronaldo etc. Those guys have a lot of variety in their goals and general play that torres does not have. I hope you guys dont give me a tongue lashing for saying that

Anyway, torres is benching these days because drogba is back in form. So torres may not have chance to regain his confidence.

Also, remember spain is not barca. They need villa's goals. This is how spain actually line-up:

 --------------Villa-------------

----Iniesta-----Xavi--------Silva

------Alonso---------Busquets

forget Ronaldinho....only one deserves the -inho suffix......Jabarinho!!!!

Torres was considered the best or second best striker a couple of years ago.  He was in top form and people couldn't put anyone ahead of him during his good stretch at Liverpool.

Van Persie is the best striker in the world right now.  Always was if we could just stay fit.

He'd be a great fit at Barca as he knows how to be part of the build up play.
