WFFC TOUR - NEWS!
« on: Sep 28, 2011, 04:43: AM »
Hey guys,

John whetton linked me to something today that i wanted to ask about/get some opinions on.

Please correct me if i'm mistaken but i was led to believe that after EVERY event the bottom 8 go out and then get replaced by another 8. I am pretty sure this was the system - and i felt it was a very good system!

However, after reading this http://learnfootballfreestyle.com/freestyle-news/meet-dan-wood-f2-president/ it seems F3 are going back on what they said and for the good of 'the media's understanding of freestyle', they'll only be introducing this system according to competitions in 2012...which means, realistically, nobody new will hit that top 16 until 2013!

IMO, this is pretty bad...props to f3 for malaysia, that was an amazing event. But, without mentioning any names at all, the line up there was not entirely representative of the world top 16 and the 8in 8out method previously suggested would actually result in forming a real top 16...

IMO, I'd prefer a 12-4 or at most 10-6 "dropping" system, rather than 8-8, but in general I agree that this needs to be made, because if you put the same 16 all year round, you'll just end up giving free trips for some, when there are other freestylers out there who both deserve to be there and have more desire to compete.

i just think that keeping the same 16 freestylers is closing the door for guys that could actually compete against the 'best'.... ( i have put best in quotations because that is another debate). Also to get in to the top 16 you have to compete in various competitions, which means getting a plane to another country i imagine, sooo for guys who cant afford to get to places, where does that leave them?

I definately think there needs to be a relagation system of some sort in order for some other guys to get in and challenge to be the best.... 2013 is a verryyy long time away and there is some very very veryyy good freestylers that are ready now to show there the best.

Yes, the same 16 will be in the line up for the entire tour.

The same way you'd kick out the 8, lol. If someone loses in the first round and is in the bottom 4/6/8 of the qualifications (and most of those who were in the bottom 8 in qualifications ended up losing in the first round of the battles) - he's out. 8 is a bit too much IMO, because everyone can have a bad day and there would be too many changes in the line up from stop to stop.

One more thing, is someone knows he won't be out of the competition, no matter what position he ends up in, he won't have any imperative to perform his best.

haha it would be more boring than WFSL stuck in japan for a year :P
The nitrophosphate process (also known as the Odda process) was a method for the industrial production of nitrogen fertilizers invented by Erling Johnson in the city of Odda, Norway around 1927.

I haven't read the article yet but the first impression I get from this bit of news is that the competition will become a bit tiresome and dull with the same guys in there for a whole year. No disrespect to the top 16 they are all fantastic, you could stick any 16 in there and keep it the same and it would still become mundane.

8 in 8 out keeps the competition fresh, adds a more competitive atmosphere and pushes freestyle forward as a whole. I am pretty sure a lot of guys watching WFFCKL got inspired to train hard to hopefully get a place in the competition. If more guys are training, putting out videos more frequently to build up their 'cv' to be in the competition then only good can come out of it.

It's still early days but I hope they rethink this strategy, the competition has so much potential and the event in KL has been the most impressive thing to happen in freestyle for me. F3 should now be speaking to freestylers outside of the top 16 to gain a wider view on what should happen with the comp, I know they worked closely with the 16 but if I was in the 16 and the asked me about keeping it the same I would be like fuck yeah! lol

Still like I said early days.

Since we're already on the subject, which new faces would you like to see in the competition?

I'll start: Skóra, FX, Rocco, Yamato, Yosshi, maybe Rocky, MS & Artes

To be honest, I wouldn't change more than 4 freestylers & I'd even consider not changing every stop, but rather give everyone a chance to show what they've got, because as I already said, everyone can have a bad day...
