Freestyle 'trick'
« on: Sep 27, 2011, 03:46: PM »
Why doesn't everyone call them moves instead of tricks? If we keep calling them tricks the direct association with football will always be there. Most sports don't call their shooting, putting, sharp turning, serving, power moves, jabs as tricks...so why do we?

In think for the most part we call them by their actual name.
Like when I show someone something I say "this is a palle move" or "watch this Magellan" I don't think Ive ever said "watch this trick"

I agree, but I don't think it is a massive issue, maybe it has something to do with language.

I have no problem calling it a "trick" or "move" to me both are valid.
In skateboarding they only use "trick", and honestly I really don't see it as pejorative, IMO
