Politics and the crappy economy
« on: Aug 04, 2011, 03:02: AM »
Anyone interested in politics and business around here?

Would be cool to hear some of your opinions on the bad economy, political moves, and business in general.

I'm a little annoyed about the general political system in the US.  It seems Republicans and Democrats are completly working against one another and nothing gets done.  Republicans want one thing while Democrats want another. In the end, they complain and never get anything done.

I think US government needs to give large corporations an incentive to hire new employees.  If it were me in government, I would cut the defense and medical budgets for around 200-500 billion and then use this money as incentive to hire new employees.  It can come in form or tax breaks or instant money.  This way, companies will hire people without a great expense, uneployment rate will drop and optimism will rise, and people will have more money to spend which will boost the economy.

Instead, government wants to increase taxes on companies.  I realize the money needs to come from somewhere to lower the deficit, but I don't think we need to take more money from companies.  I'd rather put them in a position where they can put more people to work.

I agree with everything you said Adi lol you summed it all up, but i guess the reason they tax the companies is too try and pay of their debt, but i think your suggestion might end up being better :D and i think its wishful to think that the debt crisis is ended, perhaps postponed due to this deal, whos to say they wont reach the debt ceiling again

Yeah, I'm sure they will go up another 2 trillion by end of 2012.  There is no way to stop it especially with the economy struggling.  They kinda have to spend money to get things moving again.

That sucks man.  I've never bought any stock.  Don't have enough saved to make a significant profit and they say the stock market is for losers anyways.

What are you going to do about that?

Well I can sit and wait till Nokia crashes or succeeds (highly unlikely), or then I can sell them when they release Windows-phones . Cause it will probably get Nokia's stocks up for a while and I get less damage than now. I just don't think Nokia will get to it's old level anymore. Probably going to re-invest the money to Nokia Tires :P

E: If you meant the communism part, jk.

Nokia and Blackberry are both turning into shit.

All for one reason... Apple and the iPhone.

Apple is gonna run this market for a good while.  Samsung might be around but they are at Apple's disposal.  I think they are partners somehow.

If you want to invest, invest in entrepreneurs and small businesses. The market is hit and miss, and is a way to make a "quick" buck.

Good, long term investments come in the form of finding good ideas and smart people to help with business endeavors. Anyone can create an e-trade account and buy a bunch of stocks and futures. But a well thought-out business start up (and no, it's not hard to start a business in "this economy." There are possibilities everywhere.)

..and so on and so forth. When you find people like these to invest in, you have a great chance to have a stake in something big. Remember, it's not called investment for nothing: there is always going to be a significant risk factor. The more risk involved, the more you will probably gain on return.

As far as politics go, why bother?

Yeah, the greater the risk the greater the outcomes.

I want to start my own business, just waiting to come up with the right idea.  Really want to do something with low start-up costs but that's not easy.

How about the latest market hit?  Holly shit... the market dropped 600 points yesterday and the entire world got impacted just because a stupid agency downgraded the US credit.

People keep blaming Obama but what the hell is he supposed to do when Republicans run the house and won't agree to anything.  It's such a fucked up system right now in the US.  Nothing gets done as these two butt heads.

As neymar's hair told me the other day: i can eat, have sex, and travel without them fucking with any of that.

so, i agree. there's nothing i can do about the stupid way our country is run, so why frustrate myself even thinking about it?
