lol intellectual thread for hp readers. one of my favorite books was in cold blood by capote. i also liked the silmarillion, its so boring but tolkien fucking rules, no1 else can write a book like that

Yeah Harry Potter books were the only ones I could truly get lost in and just envy them so much and the fantasy of it all, I too was disappointed by the ending and quite sad loll, strange what words can do... Although she put in the ending to show it was a 'happily ever after' but it was just too cheesy.

In english we're currently doing frankenstein, and although the concept of the book is great and there are some amazing parts and dilemmas and twists, it just drags on a little too much and there are parts with not enough action for me to keep reading.

If anyone could recommend me a 'must read' that'd be great.

one of my all time favorites is The Swiss Robinson Family (or something like that) i lost the book years ago in a moving, but i almost finished reading it, and its just Great, that would be a DEF must read for anyone

my favorite books are Fearful Symmetry by Northrop Frye (a critical study of the poetry of William Blake), Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott, Dream of Scipio (forget the author), American Night (poetry of Jim Morrison = lead singer of the Doors  :rockit:), The Road by Cormac McCarthy, and The Selected Poetry of Ted Hughs (1957-1994). Also, various poems by WB Yeats, William Blake, and others, and the philosophy of Heidegger, Plato, Spinoza, Hegel, and many others.

just because you read generic, manufactured garbage does not make you intellectual. People read that stuff to entertain themselves (I did), not to think. Call it the 'reading thread' if you want to discuss books.

The Godfather Novels are a amazing set of books, there Classic
