Sure thing -- I'll try:
Genre is a hard thing to pin down, to be honest. I suppose that I was mostly exploring various elements of the blues and folk traditions, but with a lot of cross-genre fusions. The first track on the album, for example, is pretty much electropop. Whatever that means. The last track is a fusion of blues and trance music, with emphasized blues harmonica tracks undercut by a bass-heavy beat and airy synth riffs. The third track I'd describe as stadium rock -- it's very influenced by the chiming guitar sound in bands like U2 and Coldplay. The Son House cover (track 6) is probably the least accessible, and slowly shifts from a 5/16 time signature to the standard 4/4 by the time the vocals come in -- it's a fusion between blues and experimental electronica. I'd say that the strongest track on the album is "North," but many have disagreed with me. If you like acoustic stuff, you'll like that song, as well as "Down," "Blood Still Running," "Yeats Against The Sea," and "I Will Be Overthrown." Notably, "In Memoriam," the ninth track, features me messing around with a ukulele. Fun stuff. Hope that helps!
