martial arts: styles
« on: Apr 15, 2008, 11:57: AM »
So I do martial arts, and I know some others here do as well. I think it would be cool if we discussed the advantages and disadvantages of different styles. I do Shotokan Karate-Do and Judo. I also know about Tae Kwon Do because my dad used to do it. I find Tae Kwon Do to be more impractical than my style because not enough hand technique is used. I have always thought Muay Thai looks cool because of its use of knees and elbows. Any thoughts?

there is already a thread on this, anyways i do muay thai, been doing it for awile and i would say it is the best type of martial art. Reason being that it is like street fighting, and would be of most use in fighting someone you dont know in the street. But if you did something such as aikido or karate or somethin it would be harder for you to fight on the street than in training.

Muay Thai is not just knees and elbows, also legs and hands

lol you wouldnt be so impressed if you got into a fight with a muay thai fighter  :boxing:  ....meaning that he would beat you (incase you tried to turn it around)

Muy Thai, Boxing, Krate ect ect will do nothing once you get in a grapple situation.

which is why I do judo. And also, the point of karate, muay thai, etc is not to get into a grapple situation
