1 beginning move for 7yo
« on: May 28, 2011, 01:04: AM »
She loves juggling and can do a few hundred.  What is 1 basic thing a young kid could learn to get them started freestyling like you amazing people?  I try to play music for her and she says it's distracting.  I only hear her counting.  I'm trying to keep her interested and to learn new things!

Maybe you could learn her stalls, that's what I learned first. And then you can teach her beginning stuff like ATW, CO...

Thank you for your replies!  We looked at some stalls and she is trying to balance the ball on her foot and neck.  It's hard for to catch it though.  We are also looking at atw's-  she started bouncing on the ground in between but a good start.  Anything to break up the constant counting!  Thank you- you're all awesome.

She's been catching it on her neck and doing pushups, then standing back up and flicking it off her shoulder to return to a juggle.  Finally something got her to stop counting.  She taught this to herself.  I saw that camp by Farnsworth (I think that's his name).  Would that be a good thing or just $$?

A little bit of both. On the one hand, she'll be able to learn a lot in person, on the other, judging from Farnsworth other students they're very much carbon copies..where's the 'freestyle' in that? I think it's good to learn the basics anyway you can but after that learn on your own and do what you want to do.
