This is something thats been floating around the back of my head for a while now.

i personally think that something needs to be done with all of the continental tournaments. i say that each summer apart from the WC that one continent should have its tournament. this would give players a rest and wont interfere with club seasons.

Club managers are always bitching when International duties comes come along, especially the African Nations Cup. The competition has to be played in January because thats when its summer in Africa, lets say it was moved to June/July when the break from European football is on, this would be the rainy season in African the tournament would be a nightmare. Maybe Idiots like Avram Grant, Sam Allerdyce or Frank Rijkard need to think about this before opening their mouths or asking the players to skip the competition.

The French League is not played during the weeks that the Nations cup is played maybe be other countries need to do this or just deal with it. Our competition has been around even before the European Championships before any of these European teams gave a shit about African football or players.

This is the competition put African on the map, it shows how much the teams have improved and who are the biggest threats in our continent. Usually after The African Nations Cup you have a good indication which African teams will post the biggest threats in the World Cup. Its also its good exposure for many players who are usually snatched up by clubs after the competition.

They argue that clubs pay the players big $$$ so why shouldn't they be devoted to their clubs, but then you will be stripping these players of the right to represent their home countries. Imagine the Eouropean competition with out  Ballack, Totti or Henry's? how shit would that be.

Big clubs need to stop bullying International football in general, like when Arsene Wenger has a cry every time his players comes back fatigued or injured from Euro qualifiers its fucking annoying what choice do the international coaches have, if they don't insure qualification they are the ones that are crucified.

Don't even single out Wenger, every coach acts like a ho about International games. To be fair, it is absolutely frustrating when a player comes back with a monthlong injury after playing Estonia or some bitch ass country. At the same time, as a manager, you should not sign a top African player and expect him not to go to the ACON. If you sign Drogba, Essien, or Obafemi Martins, don't start bitching and moaning when these players have to go. Gotta go, you gotta go  :banana:

karma to you for bringing this up...there is always going to be controversy. in england, the Christmas time has been tradition to have games boxing day newyears games ect. so i know they dont want to stop that also because in other countries when they have their christmas break they watch the premiership meaning more tv money. it is true that this is African summertime and games would be bad in june/july as well. but the clubs do pay the players a lot of money so they have a big argument. on the other hand international assiciations earn lots of money on how well their national team does and its every players dream to represent their country. i personally side with the club teams because they have more at stake and pay the higher price if someone gets injured. im sure something will be figured out or the juicy controversy will continue.

thats true but i also would want to keep my job. like i said its not only hard controversey for the FA's and national FA's its also diffucult for players cause when they do go they have to worry about exaustion and injuies. prime example Michael Owen. thats why Paul Scholes retired as well

i haven't seen a case where a player got released because he went to represent his nation btw aren't we talking about the Nations Cup its timing is more important then the Euro cuz all the players have to go to the Euro and its not in mid-season so if someone get injuryed in Euro its not like they need him that same week

yeah but it has caused problems. and the thing with the euro competitions is that the players are still playing competitively durring the time that they are supposed to rest. they arent 100% when the club seasons start. i remember this was a big problem for thierry after some big tournament. its just that with all the money that is involved with clubs they want their investments to give a 100% back i guess you make a strong point. when its boiled sown its all about money and national pride.
