IFFA
« on: Apr 16, 2011, 07:39: AM »
I'd like to ask you for something. Do you know if some tournament( I mean - MOTG comp, Prague Comp, Red Bull Comp) is approved by IFFA as "official world champs" ? If yes, which one? If no, I think they should do sth like this. What is your opinion?
Anyway, does IFFA still exist? Officially it does, but I haven't seen any improvement in their operations(if there are some operations).

there can never be an "official" world finals yet.. because there is no "official" organization...

imo, IFFA isnt the official world governing body. we still dont have one

But the truth is that they is only one international association which can do something right now. I think that there should be discussion on beyondfootball, which tournament should be approved by IFFA as official one and write it to IFFA.

There's an official association in Poland - PFFA. Almost every tournament is under the patronage of PFFA. Why is that needed? PFFA settles rules of tournament(so there wasn't any argue about using hands etc. -> we've got rules and have to agree with them), what kind of tournament will it be(polish championship, polish cup, "cup of masters", etc.) and results of tournaments are shown at official rankings.

So I think this discussion is necessary. We could choose tournaments which should be official, we should settle general rules of tournaments(which could help us a lot, because eg there wouldn't be any discussion about using hands as at redbull tournament, we couldn't change rules. If we agree with them - we take part in tournament, we don't agree - we don't take part. Simple),  etc.

Of course it's my opinion. Creating new association is really bad, because they would argue with IFFA and we don't want this.
What do you think?

well honestly there is already a bit of "argue" if we can call it that way between IFFA and F3, and in both case I haven't seen much improvement lately...they both started out well...time will only tell
like you said creating a new one is bad for the reason you said....the thing is which is the real official governing body and most important the've got to have the right mentality because alot of peps are in it for the commercial part which is necessary but not the core of freestyle...the mentality has to be representative....

so what did they ever do except of creating semi-professional vids lol???
the heads of the iffa are the same ones that organized eurobac and street style vienna 2008...i suggested several times to them this year to organise a comp...but i doubt that they will ever organize something, by now they have way other interests...also the project "IFFA" is givin up by now...

in my opinion the most "official" freestyle competition is Prague.
because its organized 100% by the community, for the community. and people only go if they love freestyle.. no fake bitches.
also, its the hardest one to win, imo harder than rbss..

Prague ftw! Lucaso is always gonna be a legend

Agree with Dan, if there is going to be an official orginization it has to be for the freestylers by the freestylers! Amen!

the main problem is even if we have a governing body for freestyle which organizes comps and sets rules you still have redbull organizing their streetstyle with way more promotion so the whole world will think the winner of rbss is the real world champion.

but i agree with dan prague is the only real freestyle competition.

i think it doesnt matter if theres really an official comp...everybody knows street style & prague are the most important at the moment... we should try to organise much more comps, exspecielly in winter lol, doesnt have to be big ones but the more the better...
