I've always felt that its the other way around... The way i see it, both freestyle football and football freestyle can imply that its a freestyle version of the sport football... imo, if you say football freestyle, the emphasis is on the "football" because that's what's said first, and it gives the impression that the football is what is more important. However, Freestyle football is the other way around, and emphasises the freestyle.
What about with no emphasis on either?
The way I see is that in "football freestyle", you could be talking about the ball...where as with "freestyle football", there's no chance that you are talking about the ball.
We could look at it like this, "soccer freestyle" or "freestyle soccer". Obviously the latter means the freestyle version of soccer and the first one just sounds improper.
Anyway, that's my reasoning. I just call it freestyle of course.
