Freestyle Scene = Dead?

This forum and all other freestyle forums play a huge role in how well freestyle is doing.  If this forum and any other larger forum is doing poorly, freestyle will be impacted very negatively.  Freestyle is about being part of a community and being exclusive.  Think about it - most freestylers don't want anything to do with regular football.  This makes freestyle communities very important because not everybody understand freestyle.  I think Facebook alone or Youtube alone wouldn't do shit for freestyle.  People wouldn't get to know each other well enough to create a bond.  Forums create reputations in a way and allow people to get to know each other, although in a weird virtual way.  I think whoever cares about freestyle should try to keep this forums alive and growing.  Freestyle seemed biggest when the forums were active.  And while a forum's activity is not the only indicator on how well freestyle is doing, it sure as hell is a big part.  Forums were key to growing freestyle and always will be.

that's not true. The people i freestyled with all wrote me on youtube, also the guy who organised the fs championship wrote me on youtube too.

Yeah, you get to know that one individual by writing back and worth, but you don't learn about others.  On the forum, you see other people's posts so you can technically get a feel for someone's personality without actually talking to them directly.  I have a sense of the type of person Miran and Tom are without actually chatting with them directly.  I see their posts and know.  The forum has avatars, sigs, and a easier system to remember people by. This helps everyone get a feel for one another without being in direct contact.  Most people don't read all, if any, comments on Youtube.  Youtube is for watching videos, with comments being a secondary thing.  Forums on the other hand, are for both.

Miran is completely different in real life. On here he is a caring father like figure to us all always providing us with links, answers and always asking the right questions however in real life he is just a horny asshole who drinks hardcore alcohol from Croatia and walks around doing this all the time:

getting to know people by drawing conclusions about their character from their posts...  if that's what should keep the forum alive, no wonder everybody says it's dying.

I'm saying that's a part of it.  You can't tell me you don't have people that you like and don't like on here.  It's not just about the text.

i originally just said youtube helped me more than this forum.

i think the advantage of this forum is that if freestylers announce when they visit another country, other freestylers from the area can arrange a meeting. but i won't make a trip to visit a guy from the forum just because i think his comments are funny.

besides, i don't think either that the comments are very representative for one's real personality....

No, the scene is not dead, "hardcore" freestyle isn't fading out (just check the video section), "creative" freestyle isn't taking over the world and the Forum would be more active if you did more posting and less whining.

Also, you can't tell another person what is fun and what isn't or wich is more fun, it's a personal preference. I'm sure that, for example, Mirko gets more fun and joy out of "hardcore" tricks than let's say, Wass and vice versa. Everyone has their own thing which they enjoy and have fun with. ;)

Just because there's a few more non-mainstream videos one week, doesn't mean hardcore freestyle is dying is gone lol

The forum has actually picked up over the last 7-10 days.  We are seeing over 100 posts every day, while we were struggling to hit 100 on a regular basis before.  Let's keep it going and bring the entertainment back to our site.  Cheers for everyone's effort and interest level over th past 10 days.

there's no more freestyle competitions, just RBSS (i mean diferent competitions and in all countries and and states , cities maybe)
and i think it helps making freestyle dying, cuz with more competitions will have more motivation for practice.
hardcore is not destroying the sport and it was one of the best thing happened for the sport, was the evolution.
