Apparently DKP said on his facebook he's selected.
Can someone explain how all this is managed? do votes count? and how come some freestylers with low votes got to go?? weird things...

It's not only the votes that counts. This is what they say on their website:

Matt, it's not only based on quantity of votes because it would be too easy. There are special judges and they choose top freestylers based on their videos and "freestyle cv"
If you don't confirm your participate then they will choose next guy I think
