Freestyle house
« on: Dec 28, 2010, 09:43: AM »
Hey, everyone. I'm in some perspectives a old school freestyle and I haven't been too much into freestyle the past year(s), but I'm hopefully going to start freestyle a bit more seriously the coming year. I want to know if there are people here on the forum who are interested in having a "freestyle house".  I got the idea from a poker forum where some people rent a sick house in Thailand for some months, to play poker, party, having fun and enjoying life. So I thought why not see if there is any interest here on BF to doing something similar, as I would love to take a vacation to explore the world, live life, just take it easy for some months and at the same time freestyle a lot.

Most likely somewhere in Asia as the prices are really low compared to Norwegian/European standards. I imagine a house with room for 4-8 people, and there are obvisouly no restrictions for where you come from or what skill level you are on. You only have to be a freestyler, able to communicate in English and be 18+ years old (I assume noone under 18 are allowed to go anyways lol).

Personally I would prefer 2-3 months within the first half of 2011 somewhere warm (I fucking hate the long and cold winters in Norway).  If there actually are people interested, we have to find out how much people are willing to pay, which country/area etc. As mentioned the main thing to take a vacation like this is to live in a really nice house where the days will be spent on freestyling, chilling, go out partying in the night and have fun.

I haven't explored the places/prices too much yet, but  a house something like this  *link* is exactly what I was thinking of.  This one costs 120k bath/month which is $4000/€3000 per month. Although it's one of the more expensive I found on that site, so there are probably houses which also are baller but with a lower price. Have to do some serious researching if the idea should turn into reality. Let's say we are six people living in the house in the link for 3 months = $2000 each, which is something at least I would be willing to pay.

Please comment and discuss if you are interested or have any thoughts about the idea. I just think the idea is really interesting; freestyle, party, chilling... is there a better life? :)

Most likely you will have to bring with, or at least have available some amount of cash. Of course, if there somehow randomly are someone wanting to pay for LPs/promotions then that would be a way to make money there. That would be optimal, but not very likely. Personally I will (hopefully) make some money playing poker (online) during the time, but I have no intentions of doing any physical work, except freestyle if someone is willing to pay. It might be a little too much money for some, but that's why I wanted to hear some thoughts. I'm sure there are cheaper options almost as nice as in the link in the OP.

The only problem is of course to estimate how much you will spend in x amount of time. Food/drinking expenses are not likely to be huge as the prices are so low, but it will still make up a fair % of the overall expenses. I checked out the weather for Thailand specifically, and found out that the average temperature is 30-36°C all year long.

Seems like the activity on the forums is bigger in other subforums than freestyle meetings. Maybe a mod can move it to freestyle chat or even make it sticky? At the moment this is very far away from reality, but if there are some people interested we can take a closer look at details and make further progress.

I love The idea, but to be honest The first half of 2011 is a bit short handed. Its not enought time for ppl to save up money and i guess probably none of us Are millionairs wich can put an amount that fast up..

I love the ifra though

Yeah, it could be in Argentina or wherever it's possible to find some baller house for a cheap price.. But due to the lack of interest I doubt there will be anything :/

Yeah, this is a sick idea, but I doubt it's going to happen, at least not for now.

As Yoacim said, it's unlikely to gather the freestylers interested on such a short notice, mostly because most don't have that kind of money and would need to do some saving.

Of course, money will be an issue, because when you put it all together (house rent, living expenses, travel costs), it's not gonna be cheap, at all, especially if you're looking to enjoy and take it easy and not to rough it out.

In poker, you have tournaments more often and with much much bigger cash prizes (you can even make money playing online), which makes a whole different story.

Overall, love the idea, but don't see it happening yet.

Well even if it's not possible in the near future, it can easily be a long term project. Let's say for instance that we have some interrest, and throughout this year the interrested will contribute to achieve the goal.

I think it would have to be planned far ahead because, with poker there's a huge amount of people who play it so they could get some poker players who are just local and obviously freestyle is not yet at that level.

Come to China then, good locations, nice people, lower house rent, lower living costs, a nice place to practise lower. :039:
freestyle, seeing is believing.
