i dont understand how anyone can think that when uve reached the stage where u r better than everyone in the world at freestyle, and can do the longest/most difficult combos, that there is no point in continuing to freestyle!
this makes no sense, if you really love freestyle you wouldnt care about just dominating the sport, you do it because its ur passion
i dont think MP quit because he is BORED of being the best it must be some other reason...
Pardon me for saying this, and I may think that I'm speculating a bit here, but do you think anyone who really likes freestyle can do it for like 7 hours a day like he does?
OK, I know that question can seem retarded, but think about it. When you're obsessed with something, you usually have fun while doing it, sometimes you forget when to stop right? But the thing is, most times you don't. Speaking from my own experience, there was a time when I was really into freestyle, but even at that time, I don't usually practice for more than about 2 hours and a half on most days. It helps to keep your interest level up when you do little of it one day and then returning to it the day later.
Now, back to MP's case. He got so good after only 2 years or so, because we all know he practices like 50 hrs a week. That's an average more than 7 hours each day, and he kept up doing that for like 2 years! 2 years! Can you guys imagine how long that'd be? It's totally possible that by the time he reached year two, he was already bored by freestyle. And when he reached this level when he does like SKATW - several AMATWs all no touch (which is like among the highest levels of lowers), what can he think otherwise?
Now, you may ask me: OK, if that's the case then why didn't he quit a long time ago? And I think i have an answer to that as well: pride. MP, along with many Russian freestylers (judging on what they usually say on the forum and on people's videos) tend to have a mentality that they always have to try their best to become the bests in the world at everything. That's why they found the motivation to do freestyle for like 7 hours a day for 2 years. That's a good mentality as well, especially when Russian's freestyle scene is, IMO, rather new. Believe me we Vietnamese went through the same thing when we first started knowing freestyle. That can be a good thing, because it advances the level of freestyle quickly in the respected country, but it also comes with a price: after the time which you try to be the best and succeeded (like MP), you loose your purpose, and also motivation. That was what happened with MP. In several words, he is subdued by 2 things:
boredom and the lack of motivation.
Although, just keep in mind that all I'm saying here comes all from my speculation, which may not be true! In any cases, MP's leaving freestyle is a great loss to the freestyle scene of the world. We all deeply regret this decision by him, but I believe that he chose it for a reason. We'll all be waiting if there's a day when he can come back into freestyle.
Peace, take care of yourself, MP ;).
