Today was THAT DAY
« on: Oct 25, 2010, 12:21: PM »
So today was the day something clicked in my head and I "got it."  I'm a proud beginner, and TODAY was the day that I made a tiny adjustment in my thinking and went from doing horribly inconsistent basics, struggling to get htws and crosses (and not even dreaming of consecutive atws, though I've hit two a few times).... to getting four htws in a row (not consecutive, but without any drops -- a first for me), easy crossovers (with style, even) and a generally massive upgrade in my skills.  I made a little mental change ("cross your toes a bit") and then it all felt different, possible.  Don't get me wrong, I still suck at freestyle, but I got considerably better at it today.

What was your "eureka" moment?  And I don't mean when you got your first nt combo, I mean when you first started out and got some basics down, that moment of personal discovery when you realized that yes, you can do this cool shit.  Your memories of THAT DAY for you must be vivid, I know I won't forget -- what a great feeling of accomplishment.

 :great:

lol no it's a bit difficult to remember after so many years of freestyle...and back when I first started, I didn't have a clue about how difficult each move was.
The only 'eureka' moment that I can remember was my first am - am nt. It was like 'oh, I get this now, I think I can amatw nt a bunch of other moves now'.

-Don't break combos.
-Don't use crossovers to save combos.
-If you're a new freestyler looking to improve, check the stickys in the help and advice section.

true..but the trick is to maintain that moment :)
The nitrophosphate process (also known as the Odda process) was a method for the industrial production of nitrogen fertilizers invented by Erling Johnson in the city of Odda, Norway around 1927.

To learn to succeed, you must first learn to fail.
You can't know where you're going without good goals.
It's what you do that counts, but it's how you do it which separates you from the rest.
You can't have creativity unless you leave behind the bounded, the fixed, all the rules

hahah  Great joke

My "eureka" moment was at the day when i did my first tatw, I tried this trick only 1 day before that moment, so i was shocked when i did tatw and decided to practice freestyle very hard :)
