I use the same technique, I tell them that it's tricks with a football, and a pretty awkward silence is followed. When I show them a video they're pretty much amazed and positive. I've encountered very little negative responses or reactions to freestyle, when people actually know what it is. The only negative response I get is when people think I'm a football player failure and that I suck dick.

ive gotten that too, then i tell them normal football/soccer is for pussies,  :098: jk

then i always follow up with my favorite "Freestyle will always be 999999 times entertaining then normal football"

I dont like explaining freestyle,the only real way of showing them how good and extreme it can be is by showing someone :)
