Deportivo de La Coruna have announced that they want Angel Lafita to return to the club instead of moving to Real Zaragoza because they did not receive the deposit that was agreed upon.

The Galician club went public with their dismay at not being paid the correct amount on transfer deadline day and stated that the midfielder will remain their player.

According to the statement on Depor's website they wanted €3.5 million plus sales tax for the move to go through, but instead found just €2m had been deposited.

"We do not accept it [the transfer], either the details or the way it was conducted," club president Augusto Lendoiro was quoted as saying.

Real Zaragoza thought they had exercised their option to buy back Lafita from Depor half-an-hour before the transfer window in Spain shut on Monday.

They then used their website to tell their side of the story and stated that they had deposited the correct amount and that the player had agreed to personal terms.

Deportivo coach Miguel Angel Lotina was stunned that Zaragoza had suddenly decided to buy back the player so close to the deadline and is hoping that the deal is cancelled.

"I am still a bit faint," Reuters quoted him as saying. "They told me at 10pm that there was no news and everything was fine but then at 10 to midnight when they told me I would have to do without the player you can imagine how I felt."
