yes, i heard about this yesterday and i think it seems very weird that their goals has not been reported back then... maybe its understandable that Godfrey's goals arent, because hes from Zambia and not really well-known, but Zico should be noted for those goals if its true!

He already made 2 extra goals so that claim doesnt even matter. + why would a legit claim wait for Messi to break old record instead of comming out before, is the record not good if messi isnt trying to break it? :p. Any claim is just attentionwhoring.

They should count the goals likey they do with the Golden Boot.  Depending on the league you play in it should be x1, x1.5, or x2. Scoring 30 goals in Zimbabwe is not the same as 30 goals in La Liga.

I actually hate that. Suarez should have won the Golden Boot his last full season with Ajax, but that rule made him finish 3rd... Stupid rule, just count them normally.

The brazilians even count goals in charity games. I mean, I made 10 goals on FIfa on playstation today, do does count too?

I think a middle ground needs to be found.  I think Germany, Spain, Italy, Holland, France, Portugal should all be counted the same.  But lets be honest, Zimbabwe and some other minor leagues shouldn't have their goals counted the same.

I believe Messi's record counts these goals as well. It's just professional goals he scored in a calendar year. This means all friendlies, competitive matches, etc.

Why do they need to be counted separately? Lower division players can win this too. It's like any award like this. I'm sure the WC for most goals scored in a game is against some amateur team, but it counts either way.

actually it should be th same, scoring in zimbabwe or spain. Ofc the level of the players in La Liga is incredibly high, and in zimbabwe its not, but the level of the messi fits la liga and the level of godfrey fits zimbabwe, if u know what i mean ;)

I still don't agree.  The level is equal within the league, but why should you reward someone for the biggest scoring award when they score in Zimbabwe.  Might as well include college games and high school games if you're gonna do that.

It's not like this means much anything. It's only Messi's name in the world records book. One of his lesser achievements in my opinion. Like I said previously, the highest scoring soccer match I believe was a decent team against some super small island nation. This is still counted, so the guy from Zimbabwe's record should count too.

Anyways, whether Messi gets to keep the record or not, everyone knows he is better than the guy from Zimbabwe. It's a bit more debatable whether Messi is better than Zico, but I think he definitely is.
