France was a mess with a terrible coach... I can understand why they played poorly; yes, they didn't want to be there because they were terrible and nothing was right with the "team."

Portugal was interested but their coach was also poor which I'm sure frustrated the players a bit.

England had no support and the team was playing terribly.  It's never fun when things are going wrong.

Brazil was passionate about it and did their best...

You are basically picking teams that underachieved and saying they didn't want to be there.  The teams that did well seem to only have done well because they wanted to be there? Not good enough reason...

When a World Cup has that many quality players and that many quality teams under perform there are serious problems. It was a poor World Cup where many of the better players showed a distinct lack of enthusiasm for the tournament. Are you looking for an argument or something? You can't argue that. This is getting boring.

Nah, not looking for an argument.

I just don't think this World Cup was significantly better/worse than any of the recent World Cups.

It was marginally worse. There hasn't been a good World Cup for a while. 2006 had proper players in it all the way through with a good final though. 2002 was incrediably fixed and fairly awful, better than 2010 though. There was much less passion from the bigger players this time though which is very clear. Champs League means more now.

wow this forum is better then when i left, i like this

ok first thing Robben is an exceptional player and no one can say he is not, last season is proof, bayern relayed on him and he delivered.

and i agree with TheKingNut that this world cup was below par
barley any skills, and only two goals that made your jaw drop

and adi is right that this is most likely because players are not used to playing with each other

Not gonna lie, but I personally hate the Jabulani. Ive used it a couple of times and it really does feel different. Goal.com(yea i know) wrote a good article on how the decline of the central, ball-playing midfielder was directly due to the fact that it's just too dam hard to control the balls they're making nowadays

could be another reason while the WC was bad. All international games should just use the Adidas Tango
"Aim to master the particular movement, whatever it may be, by refining and refining until no one but yourself can tell the difference between a movement you are satisfied with and one you know to be imperfect."
