Are you good enough to deserve a trip to Sweden?
Meet the world 2012 online video competition is a football freestyle competition that is open for all 11-20 year olds. The prizes include a trip to Gothia Cup 2012 (expenses paid) for four people, iPod shuffles and t-shirts. The winner will also take part in loads of fun activities, for example participating in the Gothia Cup opening ceremony where his/her contribution will be shown on the big screen.
Entering a contribution
The competition runs from October 1, 2011, until January 31, 2012. To enter you will have to upload a video (see rules at site) showing your skills and share it with your friends on for example Facebook. The ten videos that receive the most votes will be evaluated by a handpicked jury.

I agree 100% with Azun , this is a way of abusing freestylers and its not good for the scene . Freestylers are athletes that should be paid for their jobs !!! And dont make a free job sound like a prize.

Maybe it's not so attractive for you guys who live there, but for someone that lives on the other end of the world and doesn't have that many opportunities to come to Europe and meet freestylers, it's a great thing.

The competition is for 11-20 year old football talents, not for professionals. It's a "vacation" you win, not to perform. Just relax in the swedish summer! if you are a superskilled guy/girl see it as a way to show your skills to others and to experience Gothenburg and the Gothia Cup tournament in Sweden.
Famous soccer players who have played in Gothia Cup as teens are: Xabi Alonso (Liverpool FC) from Spain, Andrea Pirlo (A.C. Milan) and Cristian Zaccardo (VfL Wolfsburg) from Italy, Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal) from Togo, Kieron Dyer (West Ham United) from England, and Julio Baptista (Real Madrid) from Brazil.

I'll still market myself in a way to get the most outta any performance, but if companies were smarter they'd already know everything I've stated above and could make cutbacks on what they pay.

Try be clever showing yourself more pro... in Ecuador my first show was when i was in the last year of hi-school and they paid me $300 plus plane tickets (for a 15 mins LP)! o.O

You are in a chain reaction don't forget that, so that if you are doing a job undercutting someone by 100 dollars then next year there will be another kid ready to take your price down by 50 dollars and eventually everyone will be doing shows for free.

If you look at this from a business financial standpoint I don't give a fuck who you are I just wanna get paid. You can be my best friend but I'll still fight you tooth and nail to get a performance. This isn't kumbyah where we all hold hands and sing together, it's for money. If you have to step over a few people to get you want, then by god do it. No one got successful being nice. - You want proof? Look at almost any successful business person. This isn't about respect it's about getting paid for a job.

Would you rather pay azun $500 for a performance or $300 for one from me? Use your brain, an employer isn't only looking at the price, they want quality with it. That's why they'd rather pay $1000 for a performance by someone who is highly experienced than a free show from someone who has medium expierence. And I don't see, or think I will ever see, a medium experience freestyler selling themselves for nothing.
Someone with small experience usually doesn't get shows, and does street performances until they get a break.

Tupac, I've got a question. What would you do: play 5 lps for 200$ each or 1 for 1000$?
I know it's hard to get an lp for such amount of money but,as you said, life sucks. And please, tell me- why are you thinking that freestyle market should be "cheaper"(It's my assuption based on your posts)?
I've heard of many situations where someone offered his lps and then, somebody else was asked to do that performance(because the 1st person couldn't go etc.) and was forced to do it for small price, whereas the company wanted to spend much more money for this. It's throwing money away, really. I don't like that attitude. You get a chance to live from freestyle and you waste it because you want to "steal" someone's performance.
Sorry for that sentence but - that's why I think intermediate freestylers should not be involved in freestyle market.

There wasn't much of your stupidity recently, i thought you got mature but now you strike again.
The thing is you don't have to make it cheaper, because there are not millions of freestylers. Especially you, you live in the US where the people are impressed very easily (when i was in the US, they were so impressed by atw htw) and where it's hard to get a good freestyler, and to fly in somebody from Europe it costs like $500.
you should read a book about game theory, so that you understand more about cooperation

guys, u win a free vacation to sweden for advertising the meet the world the best. from the website:They will evaluate the football trick and how you interpreted the theme "Meet the world". Based on this they will select a winner. no one in their right mind would select someone to do a huge lp from one trick. it would still be nice to win a free vacation from doing something that takes 1 minute to do. this is more a competiton for kids than anything else.

Depending on how large the event would be I would do 5 events for $200 each. I am in no way saying we should drop the price of the freestyle market. I would never say that. I'm saying if hypothetically me and you wanted the same gig, and hypothetically we were on the same live performance level; While you might charge $1000 for that event, I might end up charging $700. The difference is $700 may not be a lot to you while it is a lot to me. Hence why I would do it for cheaper. Or let's say I do need the money really bad, I might charge $800 because I know you will not drop your price, so I am guaranteed to get the job.
Also this thought of stealing, it is necessarily true, but that is life. Have you ever heard of companies fighting over contracts? It's the exact same thing All an employer wants is the most efficient thing at the cheapest price.
@Christof, I was speaking of people who fight over live performances, and while I may not have to fight against other freestylers, I do have to fight against other acts. I don't know why you're talking about flying people in?
Speaking of which, my "attitude" as you guys call it, maybe you guys should read up on Warren Buffet, the Koch brothers, George Soros, Ray Kroc, and Ross Perot.
edit: The comment about me being a ghetto kid, I grew up in Humboldt park, my dad worked his ass off to get us out of there following the same principals I posted, he took shitty jobs because he needed money and it paid off in the end. Life is better, so maybe I don't need every dime, but every dime counts.

I never said I'd undercut everyone on this forum either, but if I needed or wanted the money bad enough you'd be sure as fuck I would. Even if I made a living off of freestyle (which I obviously don't,) I'd still undercut you to get paid.
All an employer wants is the most efficient thing at the cheapest price. - That's all it takes to market yourself.
This is why I hate disputing anything that has to do with money with anyone, because you're all too fucking nice. When it comes down to it, you're down to yourself, so you do whatever you have to do ti make a quick buck.

I where at Gothia on the opening cermony 2010 and performed. Well it's really great promotion for you ofc, but I actually got well payed for it aswell, but if they said do it for free or we will get some other fser I would do it cause of the feeling of performing of 52 000 people live on tv and all the promotion. But yeah I would love some freestylers to come to sweden cause every year we have a gothia meeting with a lot of other Swedish guys! =) so goodluck everyone that is competiting!

Tupac you would fit perfectly to the german freestyle-company FUSSBALLMARKT. they give you many gigs but pay you very bad. And the best thing for you: they dont want any quality, only someone who can do 1 atw more than the averagre football player.

I can tell you this, that in Norway we NEED polish workers, cause we dont have enough construction workers here... so its not negative here, and we also have a rule that make sure the polish workers get the same payment as norwegians! :)
Im sure you got people coming to poland and work even cheaper.. I just gave an example and i think its the most typical in Europe (Germany-Poland)

About the gothia shit.. well, i have a classmate, he plays for team "nõmme united", maybe anyone has heard about that team. Basically they play gothia cup every year, last time i think they were 4th. Would be pretty cool to go.. but i'm not skilled enough :(

Also I do games for the Chicago Fire, they pay us hourly, basically it is $75 a game, but some of us are waaayy better than the others (some of us feel we are getting underpaid), we're doing halftime shows every game next season, what would guys say would be a good price for that?

Dont go by hours... tell them that its the practice for show that takes time and that is what you get paied for by doing a 5min show.
1 booking is 1 day of work atleast!
So you should atleast charge twize of a normal day payment. (no idea how much that is in your area...)
Then it comes down to how "Famous/good" you are... and offcourse how big the event is...
School LP is cheap (they dont have money)
Event/sponsor LP should be expensive (cause they have the money)
Many will have all these escuses to not pay... but remeber that they want a show and when they have called you.. in almost every case they dont have a backup plan, they just expect you to go cheap if they push you abit...
So know the marked and check who is asking.
Some days ago i checked a company that got over 300million in their finals for 2010... i guess they can afford me... ;)

There wasn't much of your stupidity recently, i thought you got mature but now you strike again.
The thing is you don't have to make it cheaper, because there are not millions of freestylers. Especially you, you live in the US where the people are impressed very easily (when i was in the US, they were so impressed by atw htw) and where it's hard to get a good freestyler, and to fly in somebody from Europe it costs like $500.
you should read a book about game theory, so that you understand more about cooperation
I live in the US right now and don't know what you're talking about. 1 hr of busking continuously in Seattle, WA (outside of a game setting and not at Seattle Center where the tourists are) will earn you 1 dollar as the best possible option, no matter how good you are. Don't believe me? Ask Nam. He was here once, he'll know what I mean.
In some cities may be that can be the case (for example I know Times Square in NYC and the city of LA are very good places for busking because people actually give a sh!t) but in other cases people will certainly not be impressed easily by ATW HTW.
People in Europe makes 300 euros in 2 hrs busking and they say it's ridiculous. Come here and see how you do... Welcome to the land of opportunity!

The only place where I've ever made proper money when busking was in times square..and that was also ridiculously low compared to what some others make. I don't busk much but it's near impossible here in queens (or most of NYC in general) to make a good amount of money busking

You don't need massive lower experience to put on a good lp. It works just as well with upper.
