what i like to do the most is when running with the ball in the wings,do a fake rabona then stepover and take the ball bullying the defender,thats so cooooool

it's all about the changes in speed and changes in direction.

pretty much all the rest is for show mostly, or just different ways to utilize the concept of changes in speed and direction.

closely study any player who excels at beating defenders and u'll see this to be true.

example.... maradona.  he didn't need to do a single akka or stepover or anything, to beat pretty much the entire english defence and the goalkeeper and score.

i was gonna post exactly what aznmagic said. the most important thing is waiting for you chance and going as hard as you can once you've got the opening. tricks can be effective, but many times they just complicate the situation. its best to have 2 or 3 simple moves that you can do well, and apply what both of us said.  once you become more skillful, you will realize chances to do tricks and be successful.
