i think it was a derivative of shotokan. he also has a black-belt in brazilian jiu jitsu, but again, most of these guys start young in some specific art/other. i mean, fuck, fedor is a four-time combat sambo world champion
if you're looking for fighters w/an extensive background in shotokan:
not just black-best mastered, but actually immersed himself
every elite fighter has a VERY solid background in their selected art.
there is a difference, but you kind of have to have been pretty serious about a formal style to understand what I mean
not really, you just need some form of exposure
